I'm just really confused about what exactly NissanConnect is. I have had my car for three months and have not been paying monthly fees, but I am afraid I am in free trial periods and they will start charging me for stuff. I intentionally never used Sirius because I know companies try to make cancelling their services as impossible as they can.

When I look online, there seems to be a number of tools listed under NissanConnect, so I'm not really sure what I got as part of the purchase of the car that will remain with me forever or what I will have to pay extra for. I'm also not really sure that there is anything in the packages that I can't get with a new iPhone and CarPlay.

What sparked this was this email that I just received (below). Thanks in advance. :)

Thank you for being a valued NissanConnect® Services powered by SiriusXM customer for your Nissan Z. We want to let you know of an upcoming price change for your NissanConnect® Services.

As of October 26, 2023, NissanConnect® Services pricing will change as outlined below.*

Please note this email does not indicate you are being charged for services. If you are in an included trial or don't have an active NissanConnect® Services subscription, the price increase will not affect you unless you purchase a paid subscription.

*Price excludes applicable taxes and fees.
The price change will not affect any payments made before October 26, 2023 and any promotional offers will continue at the current discounted rate and charge at the new price effective with your first renewal on or after October 26, 2023. All payments made on or after October 26, 2023 will be at the new price.

No action is required to keep your current services and we are excited to continue bringing you the latest ways to stay connected with your Nissan Z. For more information on managing your subscription, including how to update your payment or change/cancel your plan, you can speak with a customer care specialist at 1‑866‑535‑7935. You can also manage your account online.

to me there is no value in it at all. It does have a link to find your car and I guess opening unlocking with the App is something but the the day and age of everything being a subscription service for me tthis one is a easy pass

to make matters worse 2023 Z owners get 6 months? of it I think? 2024 Z im pretty sure I read you get 3 YEARS of it. Which makes more sense to me. That just seems like a huge rip off for 2023 Z owners

I never really use mine but I've got it set up

I have my app set up, too, but don't use it for anything. The GPS feature is nice, but I agree that paying a subscription for that seems ridiculous. If they put that in a $50,000 car, the owner should have access to that data included.

Maybe I'll just look into Lojack and see what that costs. I had that in my 350Z and fortunately never needed it and I'm sure the newer tools are app-linked and much better than they were 20 years ago.

yeah agreed. I will have to look up where they changed it for 2024 owners to basically be free the length of your bumper to bumper warranty. this obviously doesnt help 2023 owners but it shows they probably wernt getting many paid sign ups.

Dittos.

I have it set up, but I never use it. I don't need a stock quote while I'm driving, e.g.

I won't continue after the trial/intro is done.

I use Google/Android Auto if I need these kinds of services.

Mine is driving me crazy right now lol. I haven't synced/ recalibrated my new TPMS after putting the new wheels on and NissanConnect is emailing me every day telling me my tires are low or the TPMS is faulty. Like thanks but I'm well aware Nissan.

I think that if you pay for the service and put the App on your phone, you can remote start your car with your phone. I like that function and use it with my Frontier on hot/cold days. Remote start is included on the key fob with the truck. It’s not worth $13 a month for me to have remote start on the Z. I dont see any other functions on Nissan Connect that I would use.

No. No one can. It's confusing, awful and antiquated service. And I work for Nissan! Regarding the Sirius XM, if you let it expire, they'll call you and give it to you at way less of a price.

Hmm I used it to remotely lock my doors once, but that was about it. Oh and to check if I needed gas or not before I went out one time.
I'll pass.

Mine has always shown three tires with air and one without, but I've never gotten any emails. Weird.

This makes me feel much less stupid, so thank you!

" NissanConnect® Services powered by SiriusXM " is a weird name. It makes it seem like you have to have Sirius to have any of the other tools.

The spam and snail mail spam I get from Sirius is astonishing. They really have no idea how obnoxious they are.

If you open your app now, will it show you where your car is? That's the one I thing I like, but can't figure out if/when I will have access to that.

I let my expire on my September 23 purchase after the free period. Not worth the money IMO.

The dealers give out customers' Emails to everyone, Nissan Connect, Sirius, et al. Thank you so much.

Nissan Connect also includes a roadside assistance feature, which is useless because it's already covered by my insurance company and AAA. You can get a Nissan Connect owner's manual with all the details of NC (audio, Bluetooth and hands-free phone, navigation, etc.) if you're interested.
