Like many, I was pretty gassed up when the concept and prototype were unveiled. I thought the Z was one of the best looking modern cars ever designed and I was very interested in moving on from my 2017 Mustang GT/CS.
Well, they announced the price and it was more expensive than many of us thought it would be for stuff like leather and a LSD. Then, came the markups, and my response was **** that nonsense.
I wound up buying a '22 MX-5 Miata that March and moved on. I really loved the little Mazda, and so did my daughter, but I grew tired of not being seen and big truck people acting like obnoxious jerks on the road. The car was almost like a magnet to vehicles that wanted to cut me off and I've even been yelled at from a truck to pick a lane as he overtook me on the right when there was only one lane. I've never encountered this with any of my Mustangs that I daily drove for 20 years. Also, there were times when I wanted just a little more power, specifically in the low end, but had no interest throwing good money after bad and modifying. Otherwise, I have zero regrets owning the Miata for almost four years. They're simple, fun, and cheery cars, and I feel like I'm more skillful from driving it.
Fast forward to last week. I was feeling a little impulsive, and a lot fed up, and with my other car in the garage taking up space, I didn't want to have my daily driver roadster sitting outside with the top deteriorating. I took a ride to a dealership who had a white (my favorite color for a daily driver) in stock, and here I am, a little sad to see my little roadster gone, and very happy to have power whenever I want a little more of it, a little more space, more comfort, and a TON more style.
I'll be honest: I was a little concerned by what the naysayers have said online about the Z when going to check it out, but now I no longer care because I've realized just how dumb they all are. This is a lovely car that handles about as well as the Miata, is planted, comfortable, powerful, tasteful, and striking. It has a nice sized touch screen instead of the ridiculous screens like the ugly new Mustang has. The Supra is also ugly, and the Cayman and Boxster were too expensive and are now dead.
I know it hasn't sold well, but at least the price and limited numbers mean we won't see many bastardized and beat on the road.
Here's to the Z.
Cheers, fellow owners. I'll be enjoying this great car, and I hope you all are too!

Miatas are always in my heart, owned almost all gens. Now I'm buying this back from a friend sold 4 mos ago that he's not driving much. The Z will be tracked part time next year (sold my RB 240Z), and the Club Miata will be set up for autocross.
