Like many, I was pretty gassed up when the concept and prototype were unveiled. I thought the Z was one of the best looking modern cars ever designed and I was very interested in moving on from my 2017 Mustang GT/CS.

Well, they announced the price and it was more expensive than many of us thought it would be for stuff like leather and a LSD. Then, came the markups, and my response was **** that nonsense.

I wound up buying a '22 MX-5 Miata that March and moved on. I really loved the little Mazda, and so did my daughter, but I grew tired of not being seen and big truck people acting like obnoxious jerks on the road. The car was almost like a magnet to vehicles that wanted to cut me off and I've even been yelled at from a truck to pick a lane as he overtook me on the right when there was only one lane. I've never encountered this with any of my Mustangs that I daily drove for 20 years. Also, there were times when I wanted just a little more power, specifically in the low end, but had no interest throwing good money after bad and modifying. Otherwise, I have zero regrets owning the Miata for almost four years. They're simple, fun, and cheery cars, and I feel like I'm more skillful from driving it.

Fast forward to last week. I was feeling a little impulsive, and a lot fed up, and with my other car in the garage taking up space, I didn't want to have my daily driver roadster sitting outside with the top deteriorating. I took a ride to a dealership who had a white (my favorite color for a daily driver) in stock, and here I am, a little sad to see my little roadster gone, and very happy to have power whenever I want a little more of it, a little more space, more comfort, and a TON more style.

I'll be honest: I was a little concerned by what the naysayers have said online about the Z when going to check it out, but now I no longer care because I've realized just how dumb they all are. This is a lovely car that handles about as well as the Miata, is planted, comfortable, powerful, tasteful, and striking. It has a nice sized touch screen instead of the ridiculous screens like the ugly new Mustang has. The Supra is also ugly, and the Cayman and Boxster were too expensive and are now dead.

I know it hasn't sold well, but at least the price and limited numbers mean we won't see many bastardized and beat on the road.

Here's to the Z.

Cheers, fellow owners. I'll be enjoying this great car, and I hope you all are too!

Good post. I had owned the Miata ND1 from November 2015 to June 2021 (longest owned car). I wanted another car but couldn't find a vehicle that I liked. Test drove the Supra a few times but knowing its from BMW, I didn't care for. I still own an old BMW X5.

I followed the Z for many years (owned 3 previous generations). I was invited to the Z Car Garage in San Jose where they showed case the blue Z and even met the Nissan marketing gentleman whom used to be on this forum.

The Z pricing and markups didn't reflect the value of the car. I went for a second purchase of another Miata ND2 in March of 2022. I finally sold the second Miata in July of this year and purchased a Z. Its an awesome car regardless of what people say. Its a head turner with good power and comfortable ride.

Going back to the 90s I'm on my 5th Z. And all of them have been a treasure. 3 of them were new and had only a couple of minor issues. So when I read some Johnny come lately reviewers I just think "baloney"

Yep, all said and regurgitated by people who never even actually drove it, much less for any amount of real time. lol

Congrats on your Z. Enjoy!

Congrats on becoming a new Z owner. Sorry to hear about your Miata ownership experience. I owned one years ago, I enjoyed the MG vibe it had. Love to see some pics of new Z when you get a chance. Enjoy !

Interesting ownership history and Congrats! Our Zs are very pleasant to drive daily. But, I'm not sure, even sad as it is to sell your Miata, you'll never go back to owning one. Miatas are always in my heart, owned almost all gens. Now I'm buying this back from a friend sold 4 mos ago that he's not driving much. The Z will be tracked part time next year (sold my RB 240Z), and the Club Miata will be set up for autocross.

Congratulations on the new Z. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it. I'm loving mine.

Agreed on all of your points, it is stylish and, in my opinion, understated. I prefer a car with clean smooth flowing lines, and the Mazda, the Cayman and the Z all have that. It's also fun to drive something that is a bit unusual. I get asked about the car or complimented on it maybe once a week, which is kind of cool.

So, yes, here's to the Z!

I agree GR86 and Integra Type S both are attractive cars with sexy lines and curves. Japanese design artists create pleasing autos to the eye. So many great legacy cars to name from Japan with beautiful features.

Congrats. Great thread. I owned a 2018 Z MT then the 2020 50th anniversary silver/black, then a 2023 MX5 AT GT which I traded for the new Z, now my 2025 red/black Sport AT. I love the car though I wish I had an LSD. Which I really don't need because don't do a lot of hard driving but nice to have.

That tri-coat White is my absolute fav color for the RZ34. It was nice on the 370Z as well. I find them hard to keep looking clean here (too much dust) - if I could I’d own one in White.

Your points are spot on. Power is perfect for its size. The driving is immersive, interior is comfortable and the car oozes style. An instant classic, going to be a real sleeper.

Imho Nissan fixed everything lacking in the 370Z (without doing extensive modifications).
Congratulations on your purchase.
