Do you feel a roughly 9k base increase is correct for a car that is about 50 percent new from Prev model?

Yea I think that 40k hits the nail on the head pretty spot on.

Wasn’t the 2020 370z base MSRP $31k? So now you’re going back to 2009? And then using a Feb ‘22 inflation report when Nissan announced ball park pricing last year. And so a 29% increase hits the nail on the head? And while manufacturers have been increasing prices, it hasn’t been to the tune of 29%. Can you tell me what my monthly payment will be for a Z? Give it to me true care salesman style! ?

In 2009, the 370Z was an almost entirely new design with about a $2k* increase in base MSRP over the 350Z. On the other hand, and as we all know, the 2023 Z is reusing a lot of existing componentry.

Now is the new Z base model worth the ~$40k price tag? If they had included LSD and rev matching (and maybe better brakes), I'd say absolutely, yes. As is? I dunno, I'm trying to decide.

I know that many will argue that $40k won't get you anything else with 400hp, but my decision-making is not based solely on HP and 0-60 numbers. My 2002 Honda 919 motorcycle cost me less than $4,000 used and can do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. Apples to oranges, I know... my point is just that there needs to be more than horsepower to sway me.

I will say though..... just looking at the new Z might be enough to sway me ?

*$2k in 2009 is ~$2,644.91 in 2022 dollars

Nice try buddy. 2020 prices were 31k. I now know why car salesman get a bad wrap. Lol. jk
The 370z changed almost nothing from 2009 to 2020. Thus the price never really rose much more than it’s original MSRP. I mean the tech in the new Z alone could justify a starting price of 35k. The 370Z had nothing but outdated tech till it’s death. Put a turbo and standard rev match with better improved components and it really does make sense. 30k now buys you a civic or a Miata; a Toyota 86 as well.

So we agree. 35 k should be the new price….

I could see $35K. That might be a reasonable starting point; it at least keeps the new Z within shouting distance of the price range it's been occupying for the last several decades. Opening things at $40K reeks of a cash grab to me, and I've really been avoiding coming to that conclusion.

Had some of the initial rumors proven accurate and the base Z ended up with the features of the outgoing "Sport" model, you could probably make an argument for $40,000 as the entry price point. If we got the Akebonos, the 19" staggered alloys, the LSD, the sport suspension tuning, and the aero on the base Z, this would be substantially easier to stomach.

At least for me.

For what market did you hear this? I've heard that Canada and Austraila were going to get a middle ground between the sport and Performance. Though I haven't seen or heard anything about the US market pertaining to this yet.

Completely wrong. We were only offered Sport or Performance. I have the backend documents to prove it. There was no "middle ground" so not sure where you are "hearing" this from. If you want a highly spec'd car...pony up and buy a porsche. A Z car is a standard issue in usually 2 or 3 trims. We were offered colours that's it on either Sport or Perf. And to be exact we were not offered the red interior if you chose Boulder Grey. Time to check facts. But that's what this forum is in service of.

There was someone saying that the Performance wasnt coming with the 9 in screen and a few other things.

That hardly equals the suggestion that there was a new trim level between Sport and Performance tantamount to "middle ground". I have on my order form the 9" screen. The 8" screen was merely internet rumour running around which I guessed you picked up on. There are no "few other things".

If you read the order form it is ambiguous. The Sport indicates 8" and then it is not mentioned again in the Performance trim but mentions the Bose premium audio which everywhere else indicates 9" but is not stipulated here. So my guess is this comes down with what they do on the production run and admittedly that is a crap shoot. However, whether it is an 8" or 9: does not amount to a middle ground trim level. There is only Sport and Performance for Canada. AUS might be a different animal. The way a Z keeps the price down is by NOT offering a lot of optioning. You get preset trims. Maybe colours are different here and there (Canada didn't get Silver). But all in all I think we've done well to get preorders and FOR ONCE being a smaller country has actually benefited us. Can't say that as a Canadian everyday...

Having said all that...I would happily take an 8" touchscreen seeing as how my last 370Z didn't even have bluetooth.

But no...no special treatment. Only more rumours and guesswork like everyone else on here...
