Everyone is starting to drop sports cars. SRT is gone, STI is going electric, we saw the embarrassment that was the Integra. ICE sports cars are going away in favor of electric. They are quicker and will be faster; I do understand that. However, personally they don't have the personality that ICE cars do.

lol untill im the last man on earth with a ICE and everyone frowns at me fo driving i will die on this hill lol , also no soul in those cars .. i remember growing up in the 80s well i must of been 4-5 and at the Miami Grand prix and those cars would come around the bend before they got close to your seat , you felt the earth shake then the monster roar as all the cars went by

There is a big difference between a 20-25 thousand dollar sedan and a 40 thousand dollar 2 door sports car. The Z will be limited production due to production shortages as well as it being a sports car. I mean the new Z should see around 30MPG highway and 22-24 city which isn't bad at all.

I'll add my observation from spending some time looking at Titan and Tundra at local dealerships.
Both dealerships confirmed that auction and trade-in values for BOF (body on frame like pickup truck and SUV) responded accordingly to the high fuel prices almost immediately. Additionally, the current selling prices of new BOF vehicles have, in many cases, seen the once prevalent ADMs and dealer add-ons removed.
The Nissan dealership told me that in one week they sold 5 Leafs, and they admitted it's not usually a popular vehicle anymore.
The Toyota dealership said that the RAV-4 Prime and Hybrid are under extreme demand. When I was at the dealership, their RAV-4 Hybrid example had a line of people waiting FOR A TEST DRIVE!

Ok, a couple things to note:

I doubt any decently efficient vehicles will see any significant price drops.

Gas prices came down because gas demand in China collapsed because they are just now going through Delta and Omicron surges that killed travel.

The Russia crisis should come back into play soon, gas prices are going to be very unstable in the next few weeks but should settle at being high for a while.

Sports cars will probably still be difficult to buy as their production is slated to remain crimped, and most aren't so bad on gas that people would really care. The new Z should be reliably at 25mpg, what prospective buyer would find that unreasonable?

Now's a good time to buy a new BOF truck or SUV.

Sooner would be nice. But reading the tea leaves, I look at it this way:
1) I don't envision Z being a high production available vehicle in the first place, and even less so with various constraints.
2) Z arrives USA maybe June/July/Aug, and will be in particularly short supply remainder of 2022. Majority influencers, connected and ADMr's getting them.
3) Could have another COVID wave freak-out over winter to muck things up.
4) First half of 2023 production will loosen up a bit, but still mostly going to connected and ADMr's on waiting lists.
5) Maybe later 2023, a guy like me finds some dealer offering MSRP. But then you are looking at months to deliver, possibly into 2024.
6) Consider price hikes along the way.

Summary, I don't envision a new Z in my driveway until 2 years from now - spring 2024 or later. And for me, that's oceans of time. Meaning I'd probably checkout from Z, and check back in down the road to see what's going on, and if it still works for me at that later time.

Not blaming Nissan. It is what it is. Time/price, it might not end matching with some customers.

I would say 90% of that is true. It's sad and not Nissans fault but it does feel to be reality. Things kinda suck in the auto world right now for everyone.

Spoke to two dealers today and both said most dealers will be getting only one car that nissan specs, possibly changed by the person first in line at that store, and delivered between July-Sept of this year with possible orders to open during that time for the others in line. Also, they told me this info comes from a meeting last week w their nissan reps. Seems legit info ive read elsewhere too.

Agree completely. And this is a CHEAP sports car. Come on Canadians you know this. the Supra is 20k more (just priced one at a dealership at 72k). The same Cayman with a 4 cylinder is around 80k and the 6 cylinder Cayman is 115k ish. Where can you get a sports car for that price that you can tune and dial the turbos up like that? Its going to be fast, especially if you spend a little on it. It could be 911 fast if you give it 500hp.

No unsolicited pompous luxury features I don't wanna pay for, and no fancy badge tax either. Not saying I wouldn't take that, I like those cars too but I'm not the average consumer bedazzled by some pretty trim and RGB light strips straight out of a budget PC.

I would take an m3 though god damn that thing is beautiful in green. My dirty sin would be the Alfa Quadrifoglio, also in green. Then I would manual swap it. (not like it was gonna be reliable anyway)

You Canadians seem to have the best of both worlds, pre orders tick, reasonable price with Nissan Canada somehow absorbing the exchange rate (on the most part) tick.
The US have no pre orders to deal with but Need to negotiate the dealer mark ups.
The Japan and Aus markets have pre orders but somehow get charged double

I would be happy to be a Canadian at the moment ?

I was referring to Canadian dollars. I'm sure the US perf models will be lower...

We have our share of problems, but I agree this pre-order setup was epic. My dealer kept telling me how Canadians get screwed on inventory every launch compared to the US to temper my expectations, pretty funny how surprised he was to see it was the opposite.

I've seen AUD car prices mentioned along the years...my sincerest condolences. Y'all must all be making bank to afford nice cars.

Seeing as how the sport is announced at around 40k USD, and the performance is guesstimated at around 45-47k USD, I'd be extremely surprised (although happily so) is it ends up being 50k CAD. I'm assuming it'll be closer to 58-60k CAD for the performance. The Supra 3.0 starts around 68k, so that still gives them plenty of breathing room.
