Meh. I have never done a break in on any car, I do my own maintenance and I get 200-300k miles out of them with nary an internal engine issue in 40 years of cars. This is why I donāt buy used cars.
Dealers lie of course, but that sounds strangely a legit reason to me. ?My car had 65 miles on it when I bought it new in December. Dealer said they took it to Cars & Coffee that was a bit of a drive.
Not a big deal my man; I bought my Z with 80 miles and it didnāt even phase me. My Z is brand new and maybe some moving around and some test drives. My tires are brand new. I got a big discount and many add-ons, so I am way pleased with 80 miles. Just enjoy.Hi all! I just put down a deposit on a '24 Nissan Z Performance yesterday. However, when I asked the sales rep to take a photo of the dashboard, I noticed the odometer reading was at 70 miles.
The dealer has already removed $10k from the MSRP. However, I am still somewhat taken off guard and annoyed by this fact, as all the offer documents they provided still listed the mileage as 5 miles. Some part of this is on me, as I forgot to take a look at the odometer when I took it out on a test drive last week. I did check the video I recorded during the test drive, and it was already at 67 miles then.
The car was assembled back in September 2024, and delivered to the dealer in October 2024. I asked the sales rep where the mileage came from, and he said the car had "a couple of test drives" and "moving around the lot to prevent lot rot".
I've done the research, and most people say anything less than 200 miles can be considered new. I also know that any given dealer will only have 1~2 Zs in their inventory, and all test drives will be using those cars so I am not expecting single-digit mileage upon delivery. However, 70 miles still seem like quite a high number to me.
I am curious about how many miles most of the Z owners have on their odometers when taking delivery of their car. Am I being paranoid? Is this normal for a Z that has been at the dealership for some time?
Nah it was legit. It also had ceramic coat they applied. And it sat in the main showroom most of the time. It was immaculate.Dealers lie of course, but that sounds strangely a legit reason to me. ?
Glad to hear I am not the only one in that camp. Also sick pictures! Before I started looking to purchase the Z, I actually almost bought a die-cast model Z in the exact same color scheme you have!My 2024 Performance Z had 87 on the odometer when I bought it in October 2024 and they told me it was from test drives. I actually had to look it up in my documents to answer this question. I was not overly concerned then as Z's were in short supply around here at the time and I wanted this color scheme. Its was perfect for what I wanted. Its got a whopping 2459 miles on it now and purrs like a kitten with a nice low growl when asked..

I did get a matchbox that looks exactly like it from amazon last Christmas. I'm looking for a red 1986 Z31 matchbox but the only place I've seen one is ebay and they were too expensive.Glad to hear I am not the only one in that camp. Also sick pictures! I thought the Red or Blue Z looked nice, but āWhiteā with Black & Red interior is just awesome. I have always liked the way Nissan does White Tri-coats. That red Z of yours looks great and I would love to have a new red one to go with my red Z31. I've grown to like this car a lot. Its a great car to get out and play with and since its not my main ride it makes it even more special. I never thought I would buy an automatic Z but this one is just so much different from what I expected that I didn't even think twice after the test ride. TBH what really helped me make the final decision to purchase it, my wife even liked the color scheme. That right there was all I needed to part with that 50k!I thought the Red or Blue Z looked nice, but āWhiteā with Black & Red interior is just awesome. . When I looked at the original sticker it was delivered to a dealer in Round Rock, TX. I bought mine new from a dealer in San Antonio, TX.
Interesting you would say that not knowing how they drove it during that first 60K. Could be it's already well broken in.Sounds pretty good if it was the only one in the area. I wouldnāt let it bother you, youāre gonna enjoy the hell out of the car. On the plus side, youāre that much closer to the break in so you can start beating on it sooner!
