About what I expected. The straight line gap was more due to auto vs manual as the Z Nismo is only about 1-2 tenths quicker than an performance auto. Like the reviewer said the nismo differences really show up on a track or in the curves major differences there. I'm glad he gave a shout out to the Dunlops as there are indeed a good tire. Only thing he was incorrect on was talking about the NISMO sound. What he was hearing was the automatic exhaust vs the manual. The nismo doesn't sound any different except for the synthetic pops and burbles coming through the speakers.

Isn't that one of the reasons they didn't make a manual Nismo? Because they said an auto trans performance would be faster than a manual Nismo?

A reason yes not the reason

The automatics having D mode that allows integration of Nismo Sport+ was also a major factor

So what makes the Nismo almost 200 lbs heavier, quite a bit?! Definitely agree on the Nismo suspension pkg and tuning though, Nissan nailed it! Still like to add all that (use own choice R-comps and BBK) to a Performance manual, which would be lighter overall.

part of that is comparing manual transmission weight to the automatic weight. the remaining differences is in the larger braking system extra cooler and chassis reinforcements

nissan quotes 3704 for the NISMO. real world tested its about 3680

Thanks for sharing this vid. My take is the Z, either auto model, sounds like ~1/3rd a GT-R, not just like one. There are similarities, but the R35 is way more angrier and mechanical. Great video, would like to see two automatics compared. I think the difference would be 4.0 vs 3.8 to 60 and 13 flat vs. 12.4 in 1/4 mile, if not a tiny bit closer.

I own both a Z proto in a Manual and a Nismo in automatic and to me they are very different cars to drive. The Nismo is Z angry to drive compared to the GT sports car feel of the Proto. I Enjoy them both depending on my driving mood but the Nismo feels so much faster especially with the way it handles and stops on a dime! Great Video by these guys!
