My current wheel and tire setup came right off my lowered 370Z Nismo and there was no rubbing at all (1.5” drop). Proper offsets and good alignment are key.
The wider tires also have the benefit of added grip which I always felt the platform could use more of even back on the Z34. As mentioned, you can offset the additional weight by reducing unsprung mass in other ways. In my case, it was by replacing the heavy OE cast iron rotors with a lighter aftermarket 2-piece design.
What offset are your back wheels? Did you lower your Z? Your Z does not look like you lower it because of the gap from the wheel and fender.
From what I understand by doing some research, lowering the Z can provide you more room to add wider wheels. The back wheels will slightly move in when lowering the Z.
After lowering my Z, the back and front wheels are slightly moved in. So if I hit a large bump, the tires will not hit the back and front fenders.
