You are not an idiot. These items that you purchased are mostly emotional purchases. Your overall health and well-being are far more important in comparison. If you're happy and content and using your purchases wisely as far as your needs and wants go, then I feel you are profitable overall.

Hey the enjoyment of driving any car, the Z or others, is worth the $$ if you can afford it. You're still way ahead of the game (driving it) than any of us waiting for dropped prices. Heck I bought my Model Y for trips at MSRP and now discounts. That's OK too, I've had fun for over a year now with it.
Whatt that’s crazy. It was a Proto Z with the Seibon carbon fiber lip package too. I wonder who owns it now.
Ultimately I'd like to find the perfect balance between street and track for my Z.
Mods typically don't add any money to resale values - if anything, they can detract as both dealers and 2nd hand buyers tend to prefer stock cars on the theory they haven't been as abused or tampered with.
History would suggest that that might be a forlorn hope. The RZ34 chassis and suspension is the same as the R34, which itself went unchanged through the 11 year life of the 370Z. The Z isn't a huge moneymaker for Nissan and the global market for 2WD GT cars is fading. I'd sure be disinclined to expect any significant changes to the platform, especially changes that would make the Z more "track oriented". That's not Nissan's target market for this model.

Same here, weighing price/performance, it's still too much $$ for what the car is. When prices get lower I'm toying with the idea of a Performance manual and adding the Nismo suspension and aftermarket BBK then call it done. Still have not tally up cost of upgrading to all the Nismo suspension bits, it's a good package. Then maybe sell the Cayman S, hmm

Most are for sound only, not hp gains. They do make the Z sound way better, it's just not 1st priority IMO. The soft suspension Nissan cheaped out has to go first, terrible tuning.
Damn, I haven't driven one yet, but I keep hearing that. Kind of sounds like when I owned a 2015 MX-5 which came with a lot of roll and squat and dive. After a good coilover conversion, the car drove on rails.
I don't know why Nissan don't make more of a deal about offering sportier and lower suspension as a factory/dealer installed option. Maybe they do in the states? But not downunder. If you want decent suspension you have to go straight to the aftermarket after buying your brand new car. Seems like a missed opportunity to upsell the customer at point of original sale.
