Ha Ha, the mis-information coming from all channels is funny, though I can understand the confusion. As it's all partly true...

First allocation Protos have been built and will be arriving from mid September, with usual customs and dealer delivery timeframes post that. If you're on that list your friendly dealer has probably shared your VIN and eta. Next allocation Protos look to be scheduled for late year production, with deliveries next year.

There are heightened border controls at the moment and these ships do stop at some high risk ports along the way. So that delays entry, and creates backlogs in the ports. As stated above the ships carry multi-brand, so no advantages in the number of vehicles shipped. It would be a logistics nightmare at the moment, given OEM's would be modifying production numbers on a month to month basis as supply chains bounce up and down.

First shipment will have coupes, we all saw those being loaded, though I am starting to think that these may all be drive cars. Whilst it makes no sense to those who have ordered one already, every manufacturer is trying to maintain momentum in sales, by continuing with product release timeframes, though clearly supply chains are lagging. You have to remember that vehicle MY lifecycles are managed many years in advance, with design and tooling occurring well before anticipated release cycles.

I will know pretty quickly when I finally get a VIN number and ETA based on my order date, and will update, though I think others on here will know about theirs earlier.

I know it's very frustrating, however, I keep positive by thinking that this car really shouldn't even exist. It was driven by the passion of internal Nissan employees and given the changing world, who knows how long of a production run it will have. It's a keeper, and worth waiting for. :)

Got allocated it when everyone one else got notified(few weeks ago).
I Had my order in since sept last year.
Like @Fontana they somehow stuff up my order.l and was told that all the manuals were allocated when the dealer spoke to Nissan.
I’ll still keep it and just have to buy another car(manual).

That really sucks, I’d say your dealer took their time when the order books opened for the Proto’s, even though you technically put your name down in September, it doesn’t seem to matter. I know for a fact people who ordered in October received a manual Proto, so these first in line lists can’t be valid. It was up to the dealer to be quick on the mark to put your order through as soon as the orders opened

Initially dealer they told me I got my manual proto early on but the person that put the order in must have stuffed up and checked the wrong box and somehow nissan allocated a manual instead. It was going to be a keeper, but since I got an auto I’ll drive it for a bit but will prob move on to something else.

If it makes you feel better I’d say Auto Proto’s look to be pretty rare, at least we got that going for us lol, I caved in and got a GR Yaris to tide me over in the manual department and it’s such a good car

Well said!

And fwiw, my experience is as you have said- my dealer has kept me updated and I've received all of the critical info already, ready for a September delivery :)

I think you were referring to the Quarantine screening delays for BMSB?
Shouldn't affect this first vessel too much. :)

Nice. I actually have a deposit in the GR Corolla as soon as I found out I got allocated an auto proto (prob three years before I can get one). At least the exhaust is suppose to sound better on an Auto. ?. On a positive note the car is supposedly getting prepped for delivery at the dealership.

Getting some good numbers now :)
Not sure if/how I've been captured here. I originally ordered a manual proto in Feb 22 but changed it to a yellow manual coupe when I missed out on the proto.

Yeah I had a deposit for a Corolla as well, couldn’t afford both unfortunately and was sick of waiting. And hate to break it to you but I’m pretty sure the Aus auto’s don’t have the better sounding exhaust from what I’ve heard
