At 40k USD or just under, the Sport model would be the sweet spot for me. Especially given I get little enjoyment from the extra electronics/features. But the lack of LSD. :( Paying potentially 7k more, just to get an LSD, that would be a bitter pill.
It's SO much more than an LSD. Better suspension, 4 piston front calipers, LSD, launch control, bigger rotors and brakes, and a way better tire set up on the performance side. I do understand that the bigger screen, safety features, convenience features, and two tone paint may not be everyone's cup of tee. However, the performance trim is way more than just an LSD and some tech.
I'm definitely in agreement that the Perf model has some pretty significant additions and is not "just an LSD and some tech." However, I think what @indio22 was trying to say is that some don't want to pay ~$7k for all that other stuff when they just want the LSD. I can relate with not being thrilled about the all-or-nothing approach to the two trims available.

I understand that. I was desperately hoping for a middle trim, something like Sport, Performance, and Performance +tech but that didn't seem to pass. On the other hand I understand not doing it that way as it further slows production adding more trims. To put it plainly the car market blows right now and it's going to continue to blow for the next few years.

The worst ones are people who look for Scat Pack or Hellcat chargers/challengers. We have a Scat pack and a super nicely done RT that I have had so many "children" want to drive/buy.

Z1 Motorsports has fully built R200 differentials built to your specs for under $1500. You could use the rest of your 7K to modify other parts of the car to your tastes/needs. That's assuming you don't care about things like launch control or synchro mesh.

Aren't the safety features universal across both trims?
I hope we can easily turn off the safety features or that they are not as intrusive as on the other models.
I'm referring to the 2021 Maxima I have currently for my rental car and sometimes it has me scolding the car as I drive it.
Lane change vibrates the steering wheel,
Backing up, the sonar gets very loud and if you're backing in quickly will not 'Gently Apply' but Literal SLAM on the Brakes!! EXTREMELY ANNOYING,
Lastly if you're trailing too close to someone the brakes automatically apply, I'm not a happy camper when someone darts into my lane and the brakes suddenly come on.

If the New Zee has these features I will Gladly Pay a Premium to get these permanently shut off.

Side Note: This Maxima has a VQ-DE Motor and the electronics / engine management is sublime, sport mode really improves throttle response and the 34mpg from PHX to Portland was a huge plus with these gas prices. Plenty of pull through the step mountain passes, I'm not much of a sedan guy but this Maxima is pretty Ok for a rental car. Me hopes they have a Q50 or Q60 in the line up next time grabbing a rental . . .

You can easily turn off all safety features. As an added bonus they stay off and you don’t have to “reremove” them on a fresh start up.

edit *safety features removed because I'm an idiot and that isn't true at all.
The lack of any options within that significant void will make me wait until Nissan decides to fill it with the appropriate packages. In a sense, they should hope I prove to be in the minority since it'd be a shame if sales suffered as a result of their questionable decision.

I guess my only point is that you don't know anything else that we know. My group dealer hung out with Nissan NA senior leadership for a week in San Diego and they had no information whatsoever. He is a high selling owner with a whole group of dealerships. So if there was something to know...he would know it. Everyone has the right to be on here as an enthusiast but when the tone changes to taking names for a list to sell than I think it should be like LinkedIn and you should be charged for a commercial membership for poaching potential clients.

And I'm not angry that I don't have any pull within Nissan. My pull is my income spent on what will be my 4th Z car. But if my group dealer owner doesn't have any information or pull that means that no salesman in Canada, let alone the US that doesn't even have an allocation or preorder program, has any information or pull. How much leverage can you get out of one phone call?
Exactly what I was saying. All dealers will be given details at the same time. They won’t give one dealer more info than another, because that’s what embargos are for. All information that had been forthcoming to date we are already aware of, or our own dealers when questioned can answer.

Therefore the title of this thread really is click bait, and it has become a page about “I am a trusted dealer” come buy from me…and it’s worked, with two people in here saying they will get in touch.

Look I’m not really against it, smart move….but I think for an honest dealer, it’s not very upfront to hide behind Dans name to get interest

The market does indeed blow right now. But, oddly, it hasn't stopped the C8 from offering 5,000 trims and myriad options to buyers... I think Nissan could hide behind that excuse, and may choose to, but I don't take it to necessarily be true. We'd have seen the rest of the market reflect this same reality in recent years were it uniformly the case.
