What will stop you from owning the new Z?

I'm 6'3" and fit in my 370Z comfortably enough. It's not a luxury car, but I can drive it for hours on end without getting uncomfortable. I've driven it all over the country. If I was one inch taller, I might feel differently.

My local dealership (the one that moves the most vette's) has over 200 people on the list for a base C8 and over 60 people on the list for a Z06. It's absolute chaos trying to get a C8.

Z06's will be going for $150K- some buyers will simply flip them after they get the car.

My neighbor just paid a $10k markup on a Kia Telluride. $60k total. He also didn’t want to wait 6 to 8 months if he ordered the lower cost trim that he wanted. The chip shortage has changed the game and that will be in play through 2022 at least if not well into 2023. There’s a good chance many dealerships will try markups on the new Z and they will probably get them.

I'm waiting around two years before I buy a Z to join alongside my 370, which I am keeping. Some of the posters on here don't seem to understand almost every vehicle is being marked up and that's the way it's going to be for a long time.

If the Z lives up to the hype without any major drawbacks, Nissan will sell a lot of them, that is *IF they keep the price reasonable. To maximize sales they need to put the LSD on the Sport model or make it optional. Do not lock down the ECU. Also, keep the price of the Performance model at $45K US. If they price it too high, they will compete with Supra and share the buyers. Supra is only selling around 6K cars a year. Nissan needs to sell over 20K Z's a year. Which means catering to enthusiasts and bringing in new buyers, by being a good value.

Totally agree with you, but want to counterpoint the LSD part.

I've seen pics of the LSD equipped differential on the new Z. It is very stout looking with good thermal dissipation (lots of fins) it wouldn't surprise me if it is significantly more expensive than the base differential, meaning I can see why Nissan would possibly consider it pushing the base price too high.
But, I agree 400hp just too much for an open diff.
People who get the open diff will probably want to look at Wavetrac, Eaton or possibly an OEM junkyard diff.

I had my 370Z Stillen Roadster right up until end of 2019. My spouse made me get rid of it at the time. Now they are gone. lol. If I still had the 370 I wouldn't even be thinking about this new Zed. I'd put the roof down and stomp on it and listen to the Invidia Gemini roar that would come out of the back end, and take my time on the new Zed. Good plan. Pandemic supply chain is artificially screwing with demand pricing. And I am susceptible to it right now unfortunately.

Sorry, I'm on my smartphone, not very savvy with it in the forums.

Head over to any threads that talk about the OEM exhaust, they have undercarriage pics some of which you can see the LSD diff. I think some have mentioned it looks way beefier than the 370Z LSD diff, which was known to overheat.

I'm no expert but my understanding is that virtually every DI engine, excepting those with secondary port injection like the twins', will need blasting occasionally, although the interval can vary.

This is mentioned on the Q50/Q60 forums. They say walnut blasting is needed about every 50K miles, but installing an oil catch can can greatly reduce the frequency. Also, unlike some engines apparently, the heads don't need to be removed on the VR30 to do the walnut blasting which reduces the labor costs.

The VR30DDTT has a bigger problem with needing the engine removed to service faulty turbos than carbon buildup.

More than $45k I won't pull the trigger . If this car ends up practically $50k , it's not worth it . Only way I would ever pay 50k for a Nissan would be for a used GT-R

Rumours are coming out in Aus that the performance trim may be as high as 89k ….if that happens they will see their reservation list shrink substantially
