Sounds like I struck a nerve! I never implied anyone was a liar. Again, you read into that. So a NISSAN salesperson can start a thread, be subsequently called out by a SUBARU saleperson, and I can't ask a question or two? Oh shucks!

And I wasn't going to ask for the full contract - just the bottom lines with the figures. All of that language is boiler plate - i.e. it's not sacred. You really need to educate yourself on U.S. laws, or simply not speak to it. U.S. dealers are allowed to charge ADM's. There is nothing illegal about it so get over it.

What do you mean I'm up for being ripped off? I don't even know how to debate with you, and I do a lot of debating. I suppose that tells you something. I'll let you make more assumptions on that

If you do work at a dealer as a GSM then your well aware of why almost all dealers are charging over MSRP. I know it's buried in this thread but the logically reasonings for prices being REASONABLE are listed within. I will never claim you can't sell for MSRP but even "large volume" dealers don't have cars and the bottom line is lowering for everyone. I'm very happy to say I have an incredibly high satisfaction score and it is always a pleasure to work with the individuals I do. There is more to buying a car than money which I assume you are well aware of. The average mark up in my area is 2-10k for traditional models and we keep our prices incredibly competitive. In 36 years of dealing in cars you should be aware that of that.

So until supply chain catches up we will have every car on every allocation sold for the next months to come no matter how long it takes.

With that, the typical store made a profit every year.

So, in these times, how dealers treat their car-buying customers is way more telling of the morality amongst the ownership and management.

Most consumers will remember these stupid markups and it'll be reflected in a longer ownership of the current car and/or where they go for their next one.

it was never really the cars that made the actual money it was all the services, adds, etc. that contributed to the profits in the car. Sell a $2500 dollar warranty, addons, whatever and a car that was losing money may now make a grand. Just can't really do that right now for most. I again will say that there is a difference between proper marketing and theft but for some it's in the eye of the beholder.

Back in December 2020, the day after my wife's Rogue was totaled by a red light runner, we were able to purchase a replacement '21 Rogue at MSRP, despite the stock shortages. The dealer could have asked for ADM, especially knowing we were in a bind and needed an immediate replacement, but they didn't. This is one of the major reasons I'm planning on buying my new Z from them.

My experience with this dealer was most refresing after a larger dealer group in Northeast Georgia screwed us over after a lease turn in. In fact, on my wife's previous Rogue, the smaller dealer included a "we hate 'X' dealership" discount of several thousand dollars even though we had no intension fo going back to the larger a**hole dealership in question.

So, I bought my wife a new Toyota right before the pandemic hit, 12/2019. There's 5 Toyota dealerships in a "reasonable" area near us. 4 of them were horrible. The dealership we went with, and more specifically the salesman I worked with was excellent. Being that I used to work in dealerships, I have zero patience for games. I'm always up front about my expectations and this salesman gave me exactly zero BS.

Unfortunately, the dealership is now corporately owned by a local conglomerate, and I reached out to him about the new Tundra, and he straight up said "hi, yes I remember you, and you won't like the way the new ownership is running this dealership" I very much appreciate that, but now I have no good connections for Toyota in my area. Haven't felt out the Nissan dealers yet, it's been 13 years since I bought my Titan, I don't think they consider a every-decade guy like me a "good customer"

You are my favorite kind of customer. My opening statement is "Listen I'm a forward person and I just tell it how it is. So please don't misjudge my forwardness for rudeness." Things go over so much better when your clear, concise and forward about the process and what's going on. However full disclosure if someone comes in with a clip board or notepad and pen my defenses are up to 150% because that guy is always a fighter.

I bought my first new car a couple years ago ... and took along a pencil and paper, lol.

I kept carefully and deliberately reviewing my checklist, running some calculations, and making sure I didn't miss any key concerns. For me it was helpful.

Although, I was there for nearly 4 hours! Maybe the dealer was trying to wear me down with the repeated "check with manager" and get the customer tired and with low blood sugar routine.

Just use your phone. they won't know if you texting or doing analysis/research. I always double check financing numbers online.

I found it very helpful to tell your sales person up front that you have limited time. give them a time you need to be done. My last vehicle purchase, I was in an on my way home in the new car, in 2.5 hours, this included trade and financing paperwork. They we're really working to get me out the door on time.

My last vehicle purchase, I was in an on my way home in the new car, in 2.5 hours, this included trade and financing paperwork. They we're really working to get me out the door on time.

So as a salesman I can say thing things I appreciate the most are as follows.
1. Have realistic expectations. Don't you come and yell at me wanting a $350 a month payment on a $40k vehicle without bringing $20k down.
2. Be upfront about what your goals are. Is there a specific vehicle you are looking at? Are you trying to be in a specific budget? Any features this vehicle needs/wants?
3. If your on a time crunch let me know so we can expedite the process. I know you don't want to be here any longer than you have to no matter how cool I am ?.
4. Please for the love of god don't get in my face because you can't manage your credit. The bank hit YOU back with a 21% rate because YOU didn't pay off those collections not me.
This last one I wouldn't recommend for most salesman but I appreciate it.
5. Don't hold your cards to your chest. At the end of the day I don't make any money if I don't sell you a car. This is how I feed my family so I want to see you drive home in your new vehicle. If you give me what you have to work with I know what avenues we need to take to accomplish your needs.

So, the Z will be my first New car. And first time through a dealership. Anything I should be cautious of? I get that it varies based on the salesperson and the dealership, but are there any kind of red flags I should be watching for?
