The motor is conservatively dialed down from factory.

Full down pipes?

So does this squash the theory that FDP could cause over boost?

& Nissan should have tuned it for more power, and stiffened the suspension and put grippier tires. C'mon Nissan

Based on his pictures. It makes it sound like FDPs are safe when all that's rumored is turbo over speed even from just lowers.
If you are talking about the 500, 600 & 700HP packages those all have tuning.

Full down.pipes should be used only when upgrading to bigger turbos my friends. When going above 500HP for bigger gains up too 700+ along with FBOs, Expert Tuning, Stage 2-4 Injectors, HPFP LPFP, Fuel system upgrades and Flex fuel if you dont go Port Injectiom route. Direct Injection requires into 700 ish beyond that PI will take it to the promise land of mo powah!

See, it's mostly that 'heritage' thing that keeps the Z alive and selling, thanks to us mature drivers, the passion continues.... :like:

https://www.autoblog.com/news/nissan-z-could-be-heading-toward-500-hp

While the Z has not been a massive sales hit (no sports car sells in huge numbers in the US), the sports car is currently finding an unlikely audience among an older demographic of buyers. That is why Nissan will lean in with more special editions based on cars from its past.

“It’s going to be heritage based, Pandikuthira explained. “[Nissan will] go back to the authenticity of what Z was in the past. Create special editions that resonate with that heritage, and keep that animated cycle plan. Nissan won’t just build it and then walk away. So you’ll see a lot of that animation coming through special versions.”

It's definitely capable of much much more. The turbos are tiny and sized for low-mid rpm torque and quick response, remember this motor first came in q50/60's, not a sportscar. Nissan could spec bigger more top-end focused turbos tomorrow if they wanted and make gobs more power.

Eh, the whole older demo of drivers thing isn't because older drivers just so happen to like expensive cars. It's the fact that most people tend to earn more the older they are, and by the time you're in your 40s/50s, you're typically maxxing out your raw earning potential (not taking into account for investments). Thus, older people buy expensive cars more than younger people. This is nothing new and has been true for almost 100 years.

The Z, even the base model, is priced above what is normally considered affordable by mainstream buyers. Nissan, Dodge, GM, Ford... all of them typically sell their halo cars to people 40+. It's why the avg new C8 buyer is over 65, the avg Hellcat buyer is 57, and the average GT500 buyer is 56.

If you shaved off $20,000 from the price of those cars, the avg buyer age would go down 15-20 years.
