No, the main issue is the charger overheating the phone. Using AA/Carplay while charging with them just makes it worse. Commonsense that running an app while charging will create more heat but should be within heat specs to not cause damage.

I am talking about the ones that are 15 watts. And you are correct that "more power = faster charging = more heat." BUT some get "too hot" and damage phones even when used in short periods. There are manufacturers that are removing them from the new model years because they overheat the phones.
