You have the 3” non-resonated lowers? I‘m guessing its only an issue with the non-resonated version and thinking it’s not QC - are the mounts different on the G50/60?

when i placed my order - they told me they do not make these in house…. If they are from china, there is no such thing as QC
Re-looked at your pics - so you have the resonated pipes like kracka - so maybe you just received an uh-oh set. Not sure why spool would have told you not to worry about it?

so hopefully mine are ok… i have the non-resonated.. fingers crossed - lol

My Spool 3" resonated downpipes will be for sale in the coming weeks. I got them professionally ceramic coated for thermal protection/control, but they're just too loud for my wife to be happy with.

I'll make anyone a stellar deal who wants them once uninstalled. I had them professionally installed here in Houston by RaceBox, and I'll have them do the uninstall as well.
That much of a difference? when cruising? can’t wait for mine to get here…. glad i got the touring….

You are going to have to draw the line at some point - lol. what are your options ams lowers w/ cats? Borla? both?

The AWE Touring is absolutely staying on the car.

Awesome. what are you thinking about replacing the lowers with?

Any chance that you can confirm that the support bracket is bolted on your lowers? Any clearance issues / knocking while driving?

I am happy with my Spool full resonated dp's. I've got approximately 250-300 miles on them and they are getting better. Go figure.

I do wish I had known they were going to release the megaphone version before I purchased. I too ceramic coated, but I also heat wrapped them (it's not my daily and I don't drive it in the rain).

Cheers fellas. What makes you happy is best.
Can you confirm that the support bracket is bolted into the oem bracket? looks like they were not bolted in your video but maybe the install was not finished?

When I was still at the shop, the techs showed me the mounting brackets were way off and would require custom fabrication to even fit. I called Spool while I was there. The person I spoke with checked around and said it “happens sometimes” and not to worry about it — that the brackets aren’t needed. I accepted that at the moment because I knew it wasn’t something that could be resolved over the phone.

When I got home, I sent an email and pictures- After I sent photos, they told me to ship the downpipes back so they could “evaluate” them, and if they determine is replacement was warranted.

The problem is that I already paid a shop to install them. I’m not going to pay again to remove them, reinstall my factory cats, ship the parts back, wait for replacements, and then pay for a third install. That doesn’t make sense.

I asked them instead to send me a properly fitting replacement set now. I offered to install them, return the defective ones, and even put a credit card on file so they can charge me if the originals aren’t returned within the agreed timeframe.

Just to be clear — I’m not bashing Spool. I’m still waiting to see how they handle this. But it is frustrating to learn this is a common issue, and given that, I would expect them to go above and beyond to make it right. After posting about it on Facebook, at least four other people told me they’re dealing with the exact same problem. My assumption is that this was a bad production run overseas, and the long backorders are likely because they’re waiting for new stock.

I got Mo-Powa LDPs on eBay with resonators for $290. Mine don't have the brackets on them. CrackaC8 says they aren't needed. I'm sure he's right just looking for others to chime in on this.

Those ebay ones look good, let us know how they fit. Personally, I bought the Spool's at the time over the B6A since the spool had the brackets, and it was just a peace of mind thing for me, knowing that's how the factory cats were, so I wanted my aftermarket LDP's to fit the same way. However, being that they do not fit properly, and the B6A now come with brackets, it pisses me off lol:). I am sure you will be fine with those LDP's from ebay, they sell allot of them.

The eBay seller said they aren't heavy enough to justify that middle bracket.

Can anyone also verify LDPs won't throw a CEL?

The uppers have a bracket. I see this reasoning.

They do not bolt up using the tab. I uninstalled the lowers and about 90% of the uppers when I caved and took it to Racebox.

I noticed they didn't bolt up when I got home and reviewed the work. I had the OEM brackets and bolts labeled and together to make the reinstall easier.

I saw the brackets were not on and decided to finish up what I thought was a lazy job. However they did not match up.

Not ideal, but the down pipes (all one piece) were very solidly in place. I plan on installing a two hole metal tab (used in welding) to secure it further.

It seems to me, that Spool is welding on the brackets, knowing they do not fit, then just shipping them, hoping nobody complains. The more I see, it seems the misalignment of the mounting brackets is very common. They should not be welding on the brackets if they wont bolt up correctly, but as long as they include them, they should bolt up.

Many of the LDP options didn’t have brackets so I would agree that while they are nice to have, they’re also optional and not required. That’s probably why Spool responded the way they did to @kevinbonds . Having brackets surely doesn’t hurt though and if they have them, they certainly need to work properly. 😆

It shouldn't be hard with a jig to position those brackets. Especially if you reference a stock LDP

Will LDPs throw a CEL?
