I went back to the 90s oil change interval at every 3k miles using 5w30 and the Nissan GTR oil filter. I been pondering to go with 10w40 this summer and switch 5w30 for winter
I know the GT-R filter physically fits and is often-times talked about as an upgrade, but has anyone confirmed it contains the correct bypass pressure? I've searched, but thus far have been unable to verify.

For this reason, I am sticking with the 15208-65F1B/E. Here's a comparison I did of the two:

Did they suggest disabling the solenoid or was that something you asked for based on that article they posted? I go in Monday.
They said RR6 has added safeties if the solenoid fails. In the same breath, they also recommend disconnection or installing the Pride Auto block off plate.

Let us know when you ask on Monday. Follow up.

Then again, I assume this is based on pushing the car to the limit again again. Personally, I don't drive like that. Just driving enjoyment.

Hopefully the new logic and failsafes in RR6 are legit. I'll go that route and see how it works!

I think as long you change the oil between 3k and 5k miles you should be okay for a while since the failure most likely comes from dirty oil. i bought that prideauto piece for future peace of mind because years down the road, when the cars aged, I just don't want to have to worry about it

Yeah, that was me that just pulled the solenoid and left it connected then installed the blockoff. I put the solenoid in a ziplock and duct tape to keep debris out of it, and zipped it to a bracket that is just to the rear of the mounting location. No issues for the past couple thousand miles.

Peak oil pressure remains the same as before, somewhere around 54 psi at high RPM. Idle pressure went from as low as 13-14 psi before to 21-24 psi depending upon how hot the day is and how hard the car had just been driven. I am willing to give up the lost ~.2 MPG for peace of mind.

On the 13-14 psi was that with 0-20 or 5-30
