Hey Everyone. Looking for some insight on heat wrap VS ceramic coating VS naked for downpipes.
I'm looking to get the AMS catless ones soon so I wanted to hear peoples opinions on what would be best.
Thanks!

Heat wrapping is extremely efficient especially for downpipes, naked would be at most a immediate "no" as they create a lot of heat.

Some form of insulation is better than none, but if you have the money I would honestly invest in getting them coated. Jethot has a high temp coating that is supposedly pretty good and they've been around for a decently long period of time.

Yes, there's some thermodynamics at play where hot gasses move faster, and they do, but I'd be more concerned with the sheer unchecked radiant heat cooking my wire harness and everything else under the hood if they are just installed as is.

All wrapped up!
Still working on install. The 246 heat shields you need to get past are taking the most time...

Update us with some sounds clips as well! Hoping all for the best.

I picked up my new 3.0" Spool resonated LDPs this morning and just dropped them off at the ceramic coater to have them done in 1800F Titanium coating, which held up and functioned very well for me on C8 headers & cats.

What’s a ballpark price on ceramic coating headers? I assume a performance shop should be able to recommend a coater?

Those downpipes look so mean wrapped…!!!…I’d have to put them in a frame on my office wall, then buy another set for my car.

$120 out the door for my LDPs. I paid about $100 or so for my C8 high-flow cats. Honestly don't remember the cost for everything else I've had done through the years.

A local performance shop should have one they work with or at least one they can refer you to. If not, my go-to for mail-in business is Ruben at SoCal Porting: https://socalporting.com/ceramic-coating/
