Hi everyone. it may be a dumb question, but is there anyway I can install say a universal cone filter without having to change the whole piping?

If you're looking for simplicity I'd suggest drop-in air filters for the stock airboxes from aFe or K&N.

The MAF housings are integrated into the stock airboxes.

I can't believe people put big money into a mod that has no reward on investment, no power gains. Every time I hear "intake" I think I've time travelled back to the 90s LOL

I would love to see racebox do a stock intake w/ filter delete dyno pull to add to their intake shootout video.

Once removed from the air boxes the filter side of the stock MAF tubes do have an area that looks like it could support a cone filter. Even if you could find a filter that fit, you’d probably want to Secure them to something so they’re not flopping around. At that point you may as well get the B6A or AMS shorty setup though.
Not saying you could, or should. Just saying…

I don’t know the diameter, but someone here who has replaced their intake could measure it.
I plan to install my NISMO intake (I’ve had for months!) hopefully next Thursday. I’ll post the dimension.

I plan to get up into my attic later today anyway so I can measure.

Stock MAF housing, inlet & outlet, measured by hand this morning:
ID 2.375"
OD 2.75" (this is the size of filter that would attach to it)

Thank you so much for the help. really appreciate it man. im still considering weather if i want to experiment it by using the stock maf housing or just get a cold air intake instead. not looking to increase performance just wanna have fun with the car.

As a little DIY project, I'd personally go with those panel drop-in filters above, then modify (cut open) the airboxes for increased airflow/sound.

might just give that a try but we’ll see
When you remove the airbox you'll see a flat portion above the normal duct inlet. That seems to be the perfect spot to cut out with a Dremel. You could also drill some holes in the top lid in front of the air filter to get some of that extra intake/turbo noise you're likely looking for.

Outfits such as AMS are lying about gains from intakes?
