Anyone have experience with the VRX60 turbos? The more I plan the build out the more these seem to fit the bill. The car will remain a street build so the mid-range is still wanted but stay strong through the stock rpm 7k range

The ball bearing ones 'seem' to be a good go to, but what I can't really find any data on is where does full boost come on. If its a daily driver I wouldn't want to sacrifice response much at all, and with a set of ball bearing turbos that aren't much larger, I'd expect little/no compromise in that regard.

That said, there are some alternatives, Greddy is developing a kit, among others, but I have no idea of the specs.

EDIT: Saw some of your previous posts. You know what you are talking about, and have a great grip on the "totality of adding other upgrades".

Leaving my post below for posterity.


If you are in to bigger turbos, that means the whole "upgrade suite" is probably either done or in-play.

- Exhaust
- Intake
- UDP
-LDP
- Tune
-Ecutek tune

If I was throwing that much $ at a car, I would want to make damn sure everything was harmonious, and not marketing BS.

Boosted6 knows their stuff. JonnyG has done some pretty cool upgrades. Or, find a dedicated shop. Sorry; I have no experience with any.

Speaking with Z1 about the VRX60 or VRX70 turbos, they indicated that 60 would be ideal for pushing power through turns on track, while 70 would be ideal for flat-out straights on the track. Makes sense, larger turbo=more lag, but more power when lag overcome.

My concern between 60 and 70 is the turbo speed. I can hit the power requirements I have with the VRX60 but Z1 stated on the top end I am hitting the turbo rpms I would like to avoid hitting consistently. I'm probably overthinking it. :clap:

Also looking for feedback is anyone is running these VRX60s!

If you look at the torque line on the graph you can get a sense of when the boost comes on.

The VRX60s seem to fit my bill for street use. I've seen this graph as well. Torque is flat from 3.5k and power doesn't drop off at 7k. The gearing in the manuals at 3.6 and 1:1 being 5th I bet it's fast

I am interested but I want to see numbers when you push it further with flex fuel E50-E85.

The would probably be pushing the compressor efficiency or if would like to see the compressor curve

That looks pretty...not great..honestly. Am I missing something here? For upgraded ball bearing turbos, that seems really anemic. Torque comes on at 3.5~ and you see drop off well before redline.

The factory turbos have better response and taper off close to the same time.

The average torque is quite high and peaks at 5.8k... that's pretty impressive for a street car. Hp peaks at 6.8k. This set up with AVG torque above 400rwtq throughout the curve will feel fantastic. I think the hp curve says it's about tapped without more boost or fuel

It doesn't seem to address what I'd find more important, maintaining early response and no top end fall off, despite being ball bearing.

There has to be a decent set of EFR's out there that would allow those to have their cake and eat it too.

Any idea if you think the VRX70s or the Garrett 550's will resolve your concerns?

all tuned Z's push at least 1.3 bar of boost on stock turbo's tapering off to 1 bar from 6K

which is why top end on Z just dies off

which is why top end on Z just dies off
The stock turbos avg HP and Tq above 4k is suffering.

I'm set on the VRX60Bs but waiting for AMS or HKS to see 👀
