Z Nismo - Boosted 6 Autowerks Intakes

I wanted to relive my 2007 glory days of turbo noises on my old S14 so after a lot of looking i went with the intake kit from Boosted 6 Autowerks.

It was fairly straight forward to install but nissan gifted us with sharp edges and tight access so there was lots of colorful language and blood spilled, lol.

Very happy with the result, it sounds even better when its on the road. The kit is good quality and i like that i got to support a small business.

I saw concerns about heat soak - time will tell, the nismo has a stronger charge cooling situation that the regular z, the bumper helps get a lot more air in too, i put my phone camera into one of the stock airbox intake air feeds and could see daylight so thats promising.

Sounds great. I’ve been thinking about the AMS setup. They imply 10 whp gains with no tune.

the boosted 6 & ams both have the same gains… skip to the 42min mark to see the dyno results. the gains over stock start at 4.5k rpms.

That’s interesting, I didn’t expect it to pick up that much power. I must admit it does seem noticeable more responsive down low as well

The boosted 6 flows a little better up top. it’s a/f ratio ran leaner (11.7) whereas the ams a/f was a little richer (11.2) on the same fuel map. The tuner made a comment that he may could pull a little fuel from the ams tune to match the boosted 6 power. So end of day they are basically the same power wise with stock turbos. The tuner talked about making a street run with both to see if there is a difference with intake temps. they should be data on the boosted 6 intake temp from the Q50/Q60.
