Hello,
I had several Z cars in the past. Two 280zx and three 300zx and I enjoyed every single one. Now I am debating as to whether I get a 2025 Z or not. I just retired and I can afford a new one however I am having a hard time justifying the steep price as $55K is a lot of cash to tie in a car.
If you have experienced a similar situation or you can shed some light on your experience buying a new Z, please share your thoughts.
Thank you

To expand on that: I did not own Zs before my current Z. Instead, I owned a G37S coupe and a G35 coupe, both 6MT. The G coupes were basically the 2+2 versions of the 370Z and 350Z. The Z carries on the tradition nicely. It's lighter and more powerful than either of those Infinitis, which makes it even more fun.

If you can afford it you won’t be disappointed! Would probably hold off until the 26’s start rolling in and scoop up a 25 with some sweet incentives! It’s what I did for my 24 Nismo!

Not retired yet but within a few years. Paid $54k for my 2024 Performance and not an oz of buyers remorse. If you can afford it, strike and enjoy. I love mine. It’s a keeper car.

ā€˜24 Z NISMO
Grabbed my '24 NISMO in a few months ago (April). Had been on the lot since maybe Nov/Dec. $11K off MSRP ($8,500 from dealer, $2,500 from Nissan). Three weeks later Nissan bumped it to $3K for 2024s, but no regrets.

My only concern with waiting until the 2026's hit is if Nissan announces that's it for the Z. There may be a 'run on the bank' so to speak, and the deals may not be as plentiful.

New 2024's are still out there with attractive discounts, but there are also dealers offering discounts on 2025's trying to steer people away from other dealerships' 2024's.

The original dealer markups kept me out of the game. Then the NISMO came out and that was my new goal, although I knew I'd never have one considering the markups on the other models.

1. I wanted a black NISMO
2. I wasn't paying over $60K

I had literally given up. Stopped looking. Forced my brain to give up on it. Then early 2025 I read an article online about Nissan or the Z or something, and I checked around at prices/deals. Talked to a few, and they were "6K off MSRP, but you have to pay for our $3,995 Advantage Plan"...or whatever. Made a deal (on paper) with one dealership at $11K off with no frills, and it was bought before I could get there (100 miles away). Not signing or paying a penny without AT LEAST seeing it in person, especially the ones sitting on lots for a while. Next day after that one was stolen out from under me, 3/31, I think, I found the exact same spec (same MSRP to the penny) about 300 miles away. We cut a deal that day, they honored the previous dealership's $8,500 + $2,500 'Nissan Cash' but no deposit. 4/5, went to the dealership, finalized everything and drove her home. Only adders other than sales tax was about $1,100 total for doc fees and crap, and $299 for tint. Not sure how good the tint is and how long it will last, but it's basically as dark as I would have chosen on my own.

I literally had a spreadsheet and was tracking every black NISMO in the southeast. However, sometimes buying a car is being in the right place at the right time. Literally luck. All I can say is that it worked out for me on this one.

I purchased mine for my 69th birthday.
Don’t worry about the list price. I got mine for around $10K under list.
This is not a dress rehearsal. If you want it just pull the trigger.

same story with me on my Z, except I bought it sight unseen and had it transported from Ohio and without test driving one first lol. I come from a lot of Z cars. To be fair I did test drive one after the dealership already had my money. sucked it up and didnt get a red one (looked good in pics but didnt see one in person) and ended with a nice gun metallic one. That said, if I saw a red in person.... I might have done that to match the GT-R I sold years ago. The discounts even for the same model year just weren't as good on the reds as the gun metallic.

EDIT: Ya'll making me feel cheated I didn't get more than $7K off lol

My thought is MSRP was off from the start, regardless of the thickness of Nissan's margin.
Personally, I think the NISMO should have started $10K lower, the Perf $7,500 lower and the Sport $5K lower. Then greedy dealerships screwed people and tarnished Z shoppers with markups.
Yes, it's a 400hp sports car, but it's not a GT-R, or a BMW M, or a Porsche, and I don't think Nissan and the Z itself had the clout within in the market for the MSRPs they were asking for.

Do it! It’s been over 2 years since I bought mine. I’m past the honeymoon stage and I’m still in love!
