I've actually begun to look at older Corvettes, like the C5. I've always considered them the best vehicle GM ever made (I'm not merely speaking only about performance, I'm talking about reliability too) and the Saturn-like dent resistant panels, usable hatch area, nearly 30mpg and legendary LS V8. Seems like an excellent daily driver.

There's a 2003 with 8k miles on it for $30k near me. Not sure if it's worth that much, but mighty tempting!
That's crazy high. I've seen clean 2004 Z06's for under $25K CAD just a couple years ago.

With 8k miles?

Just wondering, don't care enough about my example to go onto Corvette forums and figure out if that's a fair price.

Too close to the Z coming out to burn through my Z money on a 20 year old car.

However, if things changed, and I could negotiate that Corvette down ....

Ideally, I want a Z or a GT-R. I have had three 370Zs and loved them all - wish I still had them but that's another story for another thread.

On the Z, I don't think I'd go for a new Nismo (if there is one... who knows?) - it would be a Performance trim with 6MT (on purpose... not getting a 23 for several reasons, some personal some because I just won't get the first model year of anything anymore). I wouldn't mind trying a 9AT out... I have had a couple surgeries that might overcome my desire for a manual and the whole premise is to enjoy the car.

If I don't get a new Z, I'd consider a 15-20 model Nismo 6MT. I don't care how crappy I feel, I won't drive that car with a 7AT. It's tuned better in the Q50 Red Sport than in the 370Z for some reason. I would also consider a G37 coupe in 6MT because it's just a beautiful car and I have always loved them. Crazy market conditions aside, it's the cheapest option of anything I'm looking at.

If money is no object, I get a 2020+ GT-R in bayside blue or I take the plunge on an R34 GT-R V Spec II in whatever color I could get it in.

If I decide to be semi-practical in my fun car, I build a Q50RS with a bunch of AMS parts and have fun. I like the Q50 better than the Q60 for no reasons other than styling preference. I also previously owned a Q50S (with a VQ) and quite enjoyed it, despite some shortcomings.

If I venture outside of Nissan, I would love if Acura made a Type R Integra. The Civic Type R is a genuinely impressive car to me, but I can't get around its boy-racer looks enough to pull one off for myself. I'm too old. An Integra Type R (Type S? no idea what they'd call it) is the solution to that in a more professional-looking, upscale Civic Type R that would be perfect for me.

My final "outside Nissan" pick is a Lexus IS500 F Sport Performance. Love the looks. Love a V8.

Just to piggyback on my plan b... some dealers in my area have the GR86 and BRZ at MSRP. Speaking of the BRZ, I finally seen one in person as I was driving by and damn it looks nice! An absolute gorgeous little car. Very tempted right now but I want that Z. Lol

Recently added a motorcycle to my considerations. Have a nice and possibly safe route between work and home, and something like a Yamaha MT-03 or Duke 390 would be affordable enough to allow me to enjoy something interesting without breaking the bank for the Z.

Really want a C8 w/ Z51 Pkg. just not willing to pay $20-30K over sticker for one. If the Z can't get enough front camber I'll likely cancel my order and grab a 2022 Supra 3.0 instead.

After a few seasons of autocross and track days in my 17' SS 1LE it's time for a change, as fantastic as that car is. GM basically abandoning the car, no development other that some bumpers is such a shame. Sticking the Gen 4 Delphi magride system in the 1LE and/or the LT2 engine seem like such easy improvements to make to the car, but they refuse to do anything.
Why would they? GM for some idiotic reason listened to current owners in their design decisions. Visibility continues to suck and the ergos are off. I really wanted to like the 6G but GM failed. Sales just aren’t there. It doesn’t matter how good the Alpha platform is. The competition is close enough performance wise. Since >99.9% of the population is not professional racers, tenths of a second become less important.

Dooo it!!!

I'm a Honda fanboy (motorcycles) and have several of them. Not as powerful as the MT-03 or Duke 390, but my CB300R is right around only 300 lbs fully wet after putting on a Yoshi exhaust and fender eliminator. Will be a few pounds lighter still when the time comes to replace the lead acid battery with a Lithium. Oh, and this thing can get over 70 MPG.

I am locked on the Z, though I wouldn't mind having a GR86 in my driveway instead. We'll see what the mark up and supply dictate for me.

I would like to eventually get another motorcycle, no matter what my passenger vehicle choice becomes. A brand new Yamaha R7. My first and only bike so far has been a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 300 ABS which I bought brand new.

Yup, CB300R was in consideration!

Yah the visibility leaves something to be desired, but dynamically the car is incredible. Throwing some parts out of the parts bin seems like an easy way to give the car a little refresh.

I love all motorcycles, but Triumphs and Kawaskis have always been my favorites.

Niiice. What's the longest trip you've done on that Tiger?

I've been eyeing the new KLX300SM and CRF300L. I've always loved supermotos, and the idea of a dual sport is very appealing.

Really hard for me to justify buying either one, because I wanna keep my CB300R, which already feels almost like a short-travel supermoto, and the CRF300L uses the same engine as my CB. But I guess I could more easily rationalize getting the CRF because of the off-road-readiness.... hmmmmmmm

I'm more inclined to go with the Honda, given my aforementioned fanboy status :p

I recently rode a CRF300L. I also had a DRZ400K as a comparison. The CRF is super nice, felt relatively light and nimble. I felt more confident on it than my DRZ. However, the CRF was also noticeably under powered.

I too love Hondas, also looked at their Talon side by side, but dang most of Honda's motorsports offering are pretty tame, engine wise.

I did consider the CB300R but again, noticed it's underpowered too. I've settled on an MT-03, very reliable and competitively powerful.

Yeah, I wish Honda would have bored out the engine to take it all the way to 299cc or more, instead of the 286cc that it is. For an engine this size, it would have made a noticeable difference.

And yes, the CB300R would certainly leave a bit to be desired in the power department, especially if it were to serve as a one-and-only bike.

I've thought about selling (but probably won't) both my CB300R and 919 (CB900F) and getting the CB650R... Only thing is, the CB650R is quite a bit heavier than I think it should be, at 445 lbs. A modern bike like this really ought to be more in the 420 lb range.
