What's up with the Data transmission icon?

Does anyone know why this icon shows up and won't go away? It happens on my wifes Pathfinder too



Is it the telemetry data transferring just stuck in a loop or something?

I had a problem with it on my morning commute. I've disabled vehicle data transmission, but the startup screen this morning said it was on. Then this happened:



I think their servers were down. No problems during the evening commute.

my bluetooth and my wireless android auto were all acting weird at the same time but I guess it was a coincidence

But <soapbox-mode>What the heck? I get that the service may not be highly available, but if that's the case fail more gracefully, or better yet, give the end user a way to fully opt out so that we don't have to deal with a poor implementation.</soapbox-mode>.

Ha. Maybe. I was wondering because I was on a short trip and wasn't using the audio system when the message came in asking if I wanted to update the map. Seems like they would always ask you if you wanted to update it, but maybe it just does it on its own if it sees you're using the system and that's why the icon seems to come on on its own.

I think that icon means your car is connected (Data and GPS) not necessarily transmitting data.
