When I was in the Q60 community, the early VR issues were sorted out by Nissan within 2-3 years.

Now go look at Toyotas similar engine, they are replacing over 100k of them, and the 2025's are blowing up too.

Nissan has the best twin turbo engine available, by a long shot.

Well, I pulled the trigger and took home a Nismo this afternoon. Now I just have to let the wife cool down a bit! Not sure how she feels about it.

I think she's cool with it. She didn't expect the surprise. Although, I've been planning on doing this since October.

This engine is as solid as anything on the market. Everyone else is experiencing failures; corvettes, mustangs, dodges, even my favorite GM 6.2L truck engines. This 3.0 TT Nissan engine has been out for several years on Infiniti's. Go for it.

you've been planning to buy a car for months and never even had a casual conversation with your wife about it?

Yeah, we talked about it! But she was surprised when I bought it home. She's cool with it now. I think she was just having a bad day. We've only been married for 30 years lol!

Well, I'll say I'm over 15k miles now on my 2024 Z, with no drivetrain issues. Stock tires were bald at 10k, and there's a recall out for a sensor harness. Other than a catback, I'm holding off on mods (sport trim). Maybe when suspension bits wear out I'll feel like putting in upgrades.

Welcome back to Z life!

Yeah, not going crazy with modifications for this car. I dropped it off today for a full front PPF and window tint. I'll probably do a CBE and that's about it while it's under warranty.

Tis better to ask forgiveness than permission.

My wife's answer to anything I want is "no".

She's well aware that I will bring home a new Z without her permission.

I'd take a VR30 over just about anything short of a coyote but that's only because a reman coyote can be had for $1,500 and they love boost as-is. I first fell in love with the motor in a Q60 RS. Starting below 1k miles I worked closely with R/T Tuning in the north-east to where it put down just shy of 600 awhp. My brother and I attended dozens of HPD events and it behaved flawlessly. It was my DD and I adored it yet drove it hard. At around 50k miles I totaled it. Not a single issue with that motor, not even a warranty covered issue, nothing and man I beat on it.

Fast forward to the Z (been waiting patiently to get back into the VR30) and once again, less than 1k miles and it was off to SOHO Motorsports. It's a 2023 and we grabbed one early, this was before momentum and migration of existing VR30 aftermarket support matured for the Z. The Z has been an absolute beast. Before it hit 1k miles it had spent weekends at both VIR and NJMP. I was slower in the manual RWD Z than the AWD Q60 by a fair margin however the Z is easily 3 times as fun : o ).

Worry not about the VR30, have fun!
