Looking at potentially doing cold air intakes and a catback. What’s the general consensus on needing a tune after doing an intake and exhaust?

I know you aren’t maximizing the potential of the mods without tuning but would prefer not to at this time. No plan on downpipes either as of now.

By all accounts no tune necessary for catback and CAI only.

stay around 2.5 inch for intake diameter

Would you happen to know if the Z1 intakes are 2.5? I cannot seem to find anything regarding diameter on their website.
Yes, they retain the stock MAF housing.

No tune needed for the z1. the intakes that have an air box do not require tuning. So far no one makes the larger intakes with an air box.

FYI - The NISMO is made by AMS. Most folks complain about the z1 install and filter replacement.

The intakes with the larger 80mm piping do not have an air box - they are an open cone filter on a tube.

Here is a video on tuning - the larger cai did well without tuning, lost a few ponies down low outside of the power band but It was toe to toe with smaller intakes in the usable power band. But to unlock the potential of the larger intakes you need a tune. The smaller aftermarket intakes can also benefit from tuning.

Watch on
