My guess is this headline would be no different for Z cars going back to the ‘90’s, or maybe further. Not a huge amount of 18-24 year olds in the mid-’90’s had, or could get, ~35K to spend on a 300ZX. Same today with a ~55K Z.

Likely I skewed the demographics, as I had a '90 300ZXTT back in the day when it was nearly new... so yeah, I are old.

Yes, this describes me. My first love was the 240Z, way back in High School. By the time I graduated college it was the 280Z and not quite at a price I could comfortably afford.

As the decades and Z models progressed, I lost interest. It seemed to me the Z had lost its way, particularly in the “looks” department.

For me, the current Z has more the look of the original, with some OK nods to other generations, like the 300ZX.

The 240Z was a pretty basic car, albeit still a classic, so I’m very happy with my Sport, with maybe just a few tweaks. ;)

So jealous! The S30Z is also my dream car. But in China, I’d have to spend around $130,000 to get one, which is way too expensive for me.

I feel very much the same. One of my first cars was a ’72 240Z, back in 1978. At 16, I was the talk of my peer group—it was something special. A couple of years later, I had another ’72, but as life progressed, practicality took over and I could only manage one vehicle.

Like you, I found the Z lost its appeal over the years. The styling, in particular, seemed to drift away from what made the original so iconic.

In the 1990s, another ’72 found its way into my life, but growing family needs and limited garage space meant letting it go. That marked a long stretch without a Z.

It wasn’t until 2018 that I returned to the fold with a 2015 370Z NISMO. I absolutely loved that car—the pearl white PPF’d finish, the wheels, the Recaro seats, and the performance all came together beautifully. After a few years, I moved on from it.

Now, with my ’24 Z NISMO, I feel like I’ve come full circle. The design and power really capture what made the original cars so compelling, while bringing everything into the modern era.

Thanks, Datsun.

When I was 16 I wanted a 300ZX so bad I could taste it, but knew it wasn't going to happen...ended up with an '88 3/4 ton SilverAYdo.
At 49 I got my Z NISMO.
Based on timeline/math, I should be able to upgrade to a 911 when I'm 82.
