Hey guys,
I happened to find and watch this video. I wanted to put it here so anyone could watch it and give their opinion. If this is half accurate, it would mean the end for us enthusiasts. At least in some ways...

Good news - computers can be hacked… It’s just a matter of time before cars are gps speed limited to PSL.

Folks in large cities don’t own cars now. i don’t see it spreading to rural america anytime soon.

But when it does, we will all be hanging out / living at the track to drive our cars. Tracks will build garages to rent / lease fully furnished with tools, lifts, etc like airplane hangers / boat slips….

sounds like a business opportunity - lol

If they implement a ā€œlunatic driver disable carā€ capability, I’m all for it. I wish this wasn’t the case but individual responsibility and highway law enforcement seems to be dead in Houston. It’s either that or I need to mount a gun turret and sidewinders on my Z to protect myself from the insanity on the local roadways. :lying:

Same crap has already been happening for years with cell phones, gaming systems, computers. Don't install a stand-alone Microsoft Office, get the subscription! You are always up to date, have the latest features and you wont lose anything because it's all in the cloud! Sounds great right?

Well you just gave Microsoft access to track everything you do on your PC and they can sell that information to everyone or give it to law enforcement.

Agreed. Unfortunately, sometimes it's almost impossible to avoid. I ran into problems with the computers, software and other equipment at my office, my church etc. Once one stops updating, the programs won't work well. If you contact support, their only advice is to update. If you're running older equipment, you have no choice but to get current.
So, going back to the automobile situation, even if we have cars without the nanny software, if there are no mechanics to fix them, we're screwed...

So, you’re saying I should move forward with restoring my ā€˜76 F-150 & ā€˜70 Chevelle

Here in the Seattle area, too many people are driving high on drugs and without insurance. I wouldn't ever want to drive something so special and nearly irreplaceable around these maniacs.

I work for a local DOT, we respond to lots of accidents. Usually no insurance, and too often no drivers license and there's drugs involved. Getting tired of cleaning up after these idiots, and the cops do nothing about it....

Only been to Seattle once and it was a couple years ago. I was pretty excited to see it. It wasn't as great as I was expecting. We did the touristy stuff and I enjoyed the space needle and the underground part of the Pike market. Everything else was kind of meh.
The drug thing I can see. Walked past people smoking I can only assume was crack two times - just right there out in the open and nobody cared. Only way that happens is like you said if the cops don't care. I mean I expected Seattle to be "grungy" but yikes.

On topic it's one of the things I like about the Z, Nissan and (most) non-premium brands in recent years is the lack of everything being on a screen and software controlled. Having buttons and knobs is cool. Shouldn't be hard to buy used the rest of my life when it comes to vehicle purchases. Though I was looking forward to the new XTerra in a couple years.
