@Will-Stillen Warranty aside, why should I choose a plugin tune vs flash tune?

It really comes down to your goals for the car and how you plan to build it.

If you're looking to build a full-blown monster, a flash tune is the way to go since it allows for complete control over boost, fuel, and timing—essential for maximizing performance with major upgrades like bigger turbos or fueling mods.

But for those who just want to enjoy their car with simple bolt-ons, a piggyback tuner is a great option. It provides noticeable power gains, improves throttle response, and lets you have fun while upgrading. A lot of people run a piggyback while they’re collecting parts for their full build, then switch to a flash tune once everything is installed and then sell their Trucontrol as it's not locked to the car.

At the end of the day, it’s all about how you want to build your car and what works best for your setup. Some stick with a piggyback because it’s simple and effective, while others use it as a stepping stone before going all-in on a flash tune.

Yeah sorry about the fluff, thats the way my videos go, I go on tangents very easy. Yes, easy install. It can be completely disconected with no trace in under 10 mins then put back on when you get back after going to the dealers.
Check out my other videos with some of the other little things I have done to mine. (Just fast forward the fluff) LOL.
Have a good one.
Matt.
Hey Matt, no worries, thanks for putting out your total effort into these videos, you add storyline to them. I'll check out your channel soon, sure will be just as informational

Yes works well on the Nismo the only difference with the NISMO is since you already have a bump in HP the numbers are about 40-50 hp gains.
Only difference, that means Nismo is turbo boost only. I kinda doubt that, but I’m not a tuner.

@Will-Stillen I reached out to Stillen via their website contact information and have yet to receive a response. As this is advertised as “not voiding factory warranty”, what guarantees do you provide that this statement is true? If this is removed before any dealer work and they see changes like increased boost and deny warranty work, does stillen cover any cost? Or is this statement that it won’t void warranty just just a statement with no true guarantee?

Hey,

Since I don't represent the manufacture, I can not speak definitively whether this will or will not void your warranty. That is up to the manufacture.

What I can tell you is testing with multiple Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and other dealerships that this product was not detected by the manufacture specific scan tools. I can also tell you we have a few dealerships that we have sold to that are offering them on cars on their lots.

In 7 years of using this product and probably over 50,000 units sold. We have not had 1 customer come back and blame us for blowing an engine up.

Cars are usually released at about 82%-85% from the factory. Our chip increases it to about 90% that still leaves 10% which is still well within the safety parameters.

Thank you for the detailed reply, Will. Much appreciated.

I wish there was data like a bone stock Performance before and after 0-60 times or something usable for understanding gains. HP really doesn’t tell me much.

With the sale going on it's only about $550. What's cool with ours as well is if you have other simple bolt on mods(intake, exhaust, ect) our tuner will go in and adjust the files and you can update the maps through the app on the phone. It's super convenient and easy. Also, you can adjust the different map settings on the fly through the app.
Quick question, is this still on sale ?

I have not looked at it yet, but will. It’s just hard to believe you can so easily do it without a custom tune and that Nissan didn’t do it already.

Is this the GTR engine? Maybe they keep it tuned down because the big dog gets the power?

Also, I have the 9AT and a member mentioned the Nismo had tranny mods for a very modest gain. Worried my Sport 9AT will get smoked running another 70hp and whatever the torque is.
If you’re worried about things like that I wouldn’t consider getting a tune. In the end to
each their own.

Finally installed my TruControl today. Super easy, you just plug the A cable into the boost pressure sensor on the driver side an the B cable into the manifold pressure sensor on the passenger side. Took longer to figure out how I wanted to position the unit and route the cables. I placed the unit on top of the drivers side air intake. It should stay cool enough there.

Initial impressions, honestly it's an improvement, it boosts up to 19psi now and pulls harder.

Here are some installation pics.

Have installed one as well. Can confirm it has increased power via more boost. I do like the warm up timer, have set that to 5mins so that the engine has time to warm before the higher boost is available.

No issues with the product so far. Apart from some rough acceleration if the gear might be too high, but that was an issue already, I think the extra boost has just exacerbated that.

Update: I bought this a month ago and I'm currently running sport 7. What a crazy difference. Have not tried race yet. The car is financed and the only thing that scares me is the possibility of early turbo failure VS stock. In sport 7 I'm seeing about 18 PSI and this thing pulls HARD!

Stillen: Do you have any data on what power this makes on Sport 7 or any of the race modes? I'm curious as to what I gained in sport 7.

With the gains you get for such a low price, I'm surprised there isn't more talk about this product. 600 miles on this tune and could not be happier. Thank you, Stillen!

I do not know off hand. I would have to reach out to my tuner for that specific information.
