FYI: Tapping the pic above on my iPad to copy it and happened to tap on “113 F” and a dialog box popped up with that temp in C. Computers is smart.

That's exactly what the performance looks like in sport view. No oil pressure. I wish we could choose which gauges show up. I always thought TM meant "turbo motor" until the Arizona Robot educated me that it's transmission temp lol.

A while back there was a thread where we discussed various gauge configurations.

What we need is a spreadsheet!

Race box and Sonictuned have said low oil pressures below 20psi is not good at idle. 23psi is the lowest it should be. I chose to go with 5W-30 full synthetic(Motul) and I'll go with 5W-40 once we are in Summer season. For the health of the motor and it's internals protection over efficency any day.

Also, my lowest now is 23psi at 204°

I think the most important thing is that the car will tell you if there is an oil pressure issue.
Yeah but the “defective solenoid” threads and stories indicate otherwise. I’m looking to set mine to “always closed” somehow.

I would like to as well and will follow your progress if you post it up for us as you go.

I assume both Sonictuned and Racebox can be considered experts, and are talking about the same engine.

From the links above
Race Box - “Watch idle oil pressure (should always be 20+)…
Sonictuned - “At idle, it’s normal to see around 15-20psi.

The science apparently isn’t settled.

Nissan Master Tech is a qualified expert on the VR30DDTT. It's normal due to the Solenoid valve dropping pressure for EPA Govt. Fuel efficiency goals. Not good for long term health of this motor. Starving valuable lubrication at that low oil pressure . Those rod bearings won't like that . Ouch. Seized! And yes the same engine. We have the bi turbocharged one which makes it even more the reason to forgo efficency for protection. I'll pay more for gas just so I can get to 150,000 miles

Not true, why, because a lot of dealers give you a choice between 0w and 5w.

Not my dealer. I got my oil changed a month ago at Tacoma Nissan and when I asked about putting a heavier oil in for summer driving, he informed me that not following the recommendations in the owner's manual could void the warranty.

Sucks how much mixed messaging is out there, I don't care about MPGs and prefer the oil that protects the engine's long-term health, but I also don't want to void my warranty.
