When I search 15208-65F1B at nissanusa and nissan.oempartsonline it automatically brings up 65F1E. Although it says it's unavailable from nissanusa.

Right I also see 15208-65F1E in stock everywhere else except nissanusa.com. It's astonishing how this oil filter topic has become so convoluted not by people talking about it but just how it is.
This part replaced that part and can fit this car but isn't made for this car. Stuff like this drives me nuts.

I use the 9E01A for (4) changes 13k miles - both Racebox and Sonictuned recommend - that is enough for me. Even if they flow the same the voume is obviously more. Attached is from RaceBox web site, Sonictuned has a wealth of information on their site also. As a note I use 0w40

Did my break in oil change today. Nissan 0W20 and the Nissan Value Advantage oil filter A5208-65F1P-NW. Added Z1 magnetic drain plug. Everything seemed to go well. Had an issue with the Mishimoto Skid Plate, but speaking with them now to hopefully get it corrected.

I checked my records and my dealer used 15208-65F0E one time and another time used 15208-65F1B.

I just checked the service manual pg 252 for the oil filter remove/installation, and no mention of part number

Just got off the phone with parts dept at a local Nissan dealer, and this is the CURRENT part # of the oil filter that is being used for all turbo-charged Nissan engines:
A5208-65F1PNW

The reason why they're using this filter is because the other's that we're all familiar with have been on backorder (even though 3rd parties have them in stock).

Now I'm not claiming that what others have been using without issue are using the wrong filter, and I even asked the Parts Rep and he's aware of all the confusion surrounding oil filter part numbers for our cars. But that part # above is the most current official part # from Nissan.

This is the one I just used yesterday. No issues.

Automotive manufacturers must have so much control over their processes that this kind of stuff is inherent. Small things, VERY small things, can force a part number change.

This is not a known/factual story, but based on what I know about manufacturing and process control, this is an example of why things like this are so disjointed...to us the consumer, anyway.

In regards to this oil filter chaos, it could be something as simple as the shop that makes the shells had to change the forming dies. The dies could be made to the EXACT same specifications, but the manufacturer has to change the part number to keep track of parts/defects. Say 4 months later they determine there's an issue with those dies/shells, having a unique part number for the filters assembled with those shells makes it much easier to identify who is affected by it.
