Noisy Boost Gauge Needle

Is anyone having an issue with a noisy boost gauge needle.
Makes a plastic cogs whining/rubbing/grinding noise whenever the needle moves, which is obviously all the time.
Took me a while to track it down, as with normal road noise, radio, exhaust etc you cannot hear it.
95% of the time I don't hear it on start up either.

Just switching the car to on, without starting makes the needle sweep and demonstrates the noise, see video.
I the remember 370Z tacho and dials making similar sounds when turning the car on.

Anyway, I just raised it at my 3yr 30,000km dealer service and they've ordered a warranty replacement and quoted an hour to replace it (I really though this was a dash out job, but maybe they made the triple gauges easier to access than in the 370Z)

Well at least you got it figured out and got a replacement on the way. Good thing to look out for in case any of us have similar issues.

Wild. I haven't had that issue. Nice that it'll be fixed under warranty. How long is the warranty in AU? If you're after the three-year mark in the US, you'd be paying for that yourself.

Yep... sounds like a Geiger counter. Had that gauge replaced at 24,500.... and the idiots messed up the clock. I have to take it to a different dealership to get that fixed.

How long is the warranty in AU?

5 years unlimited kms
Increased to 10 years / 300,000kms if serviced at Nissan dealerships.

The digital clock in the gauge pod... AND the main display if my phone isn't connected. ALWAYS starts at 6:18 every time I get in the car. If I adjust it to the correct time, it's 6:18 next time I start it up.

NOT happy with the dealership at all. They had adhesive all over the window when they fixed that gauge, fingerprints all over the place... "couldn't duplicate" a very clearly blown speaker, driver-side in the dash... do NOT go to Hertrich Nissan in Exton PA.

The resetting is odd, but not as odd to me as the fact that it starts at 6:18 every time.
Does it do it even when you quickly turn it off and back on, or does it have to be off for a little bit?
Typically a clock circuit resets to zero (midnight). Speculation, and no one cares anyway, but it's possible that 6:18PM, and maybe a specific date, was significant to whoever wrote that code and that's what they programmed in as the reset point.

Does the Z have a GPS time option? I'd scroll through the clock settings to make sure everything's set correctly.

Dropped the car in this morning to have this swapped.

Service desk: Yep should only take an hour or so.

Message from Service desk 2hours later: It's going to take a lot longer. Maybe not completed until tomorrow

So yeah, looks like this is a dash out job.

Don't worry, though. I'm sure that the incorrect estimate is a fluke. The technician doing the work has surely done this dozens of times and is now an expert.

Happy to report, boost gauge replaced and is silent.
No marks, dents, scuffs or rattles immediately evident.

Unhappy to report, extra screw left on floormat
I always have a bonus screw when working on my cars, so no biggie, but would expect a little better from a dealership.
They called the foreman out who advised it was from under the dash somewhere and they'd find where it goes next service. I cant wait 11 months for that, will get in and find its place on the weekend.

If I had to choose between this outcome and the opposite, I'd take this every time.
