Do you have suggested specific brake mods? I’m thinking of the Paragon 2 piece rotors, pads TBD (waiting on carbotech response) and some type of cooling kit. There's a few for sale but I don't see many people actually using them.

I would go CSG pad wise they are pricey- but so worth it.

Having tracked both a supra and Z. The Supra is better initially and better mod for mod. The bump steer was on early models and is gone after 2021 and then also easily solvable.

The Z is fast but heavy and wallows. I experienced ice mod and brake failure. I am still a fan of the Z and want it to be on the track more. Just really really spend your first money on brake upgrades.

ICE mod is solved but it involves light fabrication and more coding than I'm remotely capable of, apparently

instruction by Austin Hertel, who competes in various race programs with his 370Z

downside of a brand new car, the front bumper is pricey from Nissan, so you don't want to cut into it for brake ducting. Hopefully there is a NACA duct underneath that can be mounted

i have a spare bumper for track with ducting, so i can beat on it

Counterspace Garage is recommending their C2 pad with a new stock rotor and no additional cooling needed so I'll try that and re-visit 2 piece rotors and cooling if needed.

I see a few different stock Nismo front rotors, D3206-JL00CNW this part is $71. Does that seem correct or are there differences in the different stock replacements all are in the $70-100 range?

Is it fully confirmed that we have the same freaking ice mode ABS issues as the 370? I was REALLY hoping Nissan at least fixed that as it was a huge cause of losing 370z's at the track.

only took a decade and a half for Nissan to do anything about the slave cylinder and brake ducting (although not enough apparently)

here’s Forsberg and Chen pointing at the Bosch unit in the GT4 car

yikes. that is a lot. I was instructing a kid in his Z and i drove it for the first session and with no warning it went ice 1/2 way into a deep turn. Wasn't fun.

As my buddy said, I’ve upgraded the brake system and am also looking to reduce weight to make the car lighter. Meanwhile, in China, most Supras that participate in track days choose Varis aero kits, as they believe Varis body kits can make the vehicle’s dynamics more stable.

varis says they do aero testing

i dont know if their data has been published and i dont know if anyone has independently verified its effectiveness

Brake clearance is a function of spoke design, NOT just diameter/width

Of course, if you upsize brakes, at a certain point will also need to upsize diameter

Note also that some wheels have different barrel designs depending on which spec.
The Work Emotion XD9 had a reduced barrel sizing in 18x9.5 vs 18x8.5. Found out the hard way on my S14.

Bottom line - CHECK THE SPECIFIC WHEEL BEFORE BUYING

The Z is a chassis from 2009, so it has its own demons to deal with. Good news is many are known by now and at least some have solutions

solvable
oil cooling - hoot vents, upgraded coolers
power steering cooling - cooler
brake cooling - ducts, fluid, pads, rotors
clutch slave - fixed on rz34, otherwise upgrade kit needed
fuel starve - auxiliary fuel pump on opposite saddle or more extensive fuel delivery upgrade

Less solvable without $$$
ABS ICE mode - m3 abs controller (or better), custom wiring, drill mounts on hub for new sensors, good luck
Dynamic rear camber curve - someone smarter than me can explain it better, our geometry does not allow smooth camber change under load on track
Weight
the fuel starvation is real. Is there a kit available to add a pump somewhere? Haven’t seen anything available
