I wonder if this tactic drives the prices of older ones up a little.
If I sold mine now, I would lose the shirt off of my back, but maybe now, if I sold in 1 or 2 years from now, maybe I could get what I paid (supply and demand)? That would be nice but would probably never happen. I'm good at losing money with cars, lol

Curious...
When i put down a deposit and an order in the system here in Aus for the upcoming 2026/2027 Nismo... my Nissan dealer said that it was provisional depending on whether in fact Aus did receive this model.
If Aus did receive this model, it would be in VERY VERY limited numbers allocated to dealers.

"Scarce production ahead" is basically a go ahead for another round of price gouging, especially on the Nismo MT
only in the US unfortunately

Planned/manufactured scarcity works for everyone along the chain except the ultimate owner. Look at the impact dealerships had when the RZ34 hit showrooms. They are going to drag as much profit as possible out of it, milking us and harming the brand. At the end of the day this is a mass-produced Nissan, not a 1 of 10 Pagani. No matter how few are produced, there will never be one headlining a Barrett Jackson auction. My opinion, the Z is a little overpriced anyway, and the manufacturer discounts and dealers dropping their markups really started the Z moving. Now they're PLANNING these supply gimmicks, and it won't be good for us or the Z as a marque. This is exactly why I'm a Z-car fan and not a Nissan fan.

I hope it doesn't work out how I see it working out.

This is wild…. Well I still don’t regret selling my 24 performance. I didn’t realize how much these cars depreciate at least over here in the pacific NW. Definitely going to attempt to buy a nismo manual in the future, but if they want an arm and a leg, then I doubt it. One can buy a significant more powerful car with around that MSRP. There are soooo many 24-25 brand new nismos around the country for 12-15k under msrp at this moment.

Oh and also something important, in my opinion let’s all take in consideration that Toyota is launching their newest generation of Supras with their own engine. Soo that hype is going to be crazy and lots of folks are considering going Toyota now that they won’t be bonding with BMW.

I’m not sure Nissan can afford anything but on demand production. They are desperately trying to save the company while also keeping a very very niche vehicle. It’s not surprising that they are going this route. I applaud them for sticking with it. Quite honestly the new ceo seems to be taking a page out of Ghosn’s book. Ghosn started his revival with the body on frame trucks and the G35 and Z. Espinosa seems to be doing the same thing with the Xterra, Pathfinder, and QX60 as well as the new Q50.

I only bought the 24 in 25 since the dealer was practically giving them away. Great car for the discounted price but it was never worth MSRP.

I got my 2024 6MT Perf in 2025 for $39k with 2k miles on it. I looked on cargurus and I could sell it for almost that now with 10k moles on it. Buying the car used is the way to go. Still have the warranty, I couldn't have gotten a better deal.

Agree. Buy used if possible. Bought my 24 performance for 44k brand new, and recently sold it for 38k.

Here is some additional news and context about the 2027 Z production for the US. The rumor of Nissan shifting to a build to order style production with the Z was true. 2027 will be very limited and dealers will be able to order on average just 3 Zs for this model year. It is yet to be seen if this is Nissan sun setting the RZ34 right after its first major facelift. The good news is initially it seems the tan interior is available on a variety of colors not just the new green. Speaking of that green it is called "Unryu Green" in Japan but has been changed to "Shinkai Green" for the US market. As of posting this it cannot be ordered and there is no available color code. These might be hard to aquire early. Green will be produced starting in June 2026

As for the NISMO the US gets all the 2027 upgrades ive gone over on here previously but wireless charging is a additional small update.
Again this seems to mark a real shift for how the Z will be sold in the US . This will not be 2024 all over again so if you want one of these be proactive

Nissan is desperately trying this business move, but will end up with exorbitant pricing plus dealer gouging! The Z’s future is already decided. No way the content justifies this type of pricing by demand. Glad I grabbed my 2025 at discounted deal!!!
This is an outrageous decision by Nissan( one of many)I’ll just wait for the 2028 Z Performance model!

iā€˜m guessing even if the sales are strong you will be able to place an order.

Lean manufacturing - makes sense for low production cars, i would hate to produce this model on a marketing group’s forecast. Especially if I’m already bankrupt.

Hopefully the ā€avenge 3 per dealerā€œ is a forecast with the ability to squeeze a few more out if needed.

Since they are using ā€œaverageā€ that means dealers in large markets that have moved cars in the past will be able to order more than 3 and dealers with poor sales maybe 1 or zero.

my local dealer was zero for ’25 & ā€˜26 It took them 18 mos to sale a ā€˜24 nismo…. the dealer i bought from (in a larger market) had 6 ’25 delivered on the same truck last march.

I can see market adjustments for the manual Nismo. There will be a demand for it. But as I said before the value of all Z's is going down and will go down even more when lots trade in the auto Nismo for the manual.

Dealers here have moved lots of 25's right before the 26's arrived and even the 26's have discounts and are selling.

I don't see the 27's order being bad at all as long as the dealerships don't add a mark-ups or stupid fees to order it. Most likely the dealerships will get the 3 allocated and all after will be orders. I have seen other manufactures do this on other vehicles, Specialty and High Demand.

I have been ordering vehicles for the last 15 years with Ford, it is my preferred way to purchase a vehicle. Only benefit to order a Nissan Z is to save on the stupid add-ons. Even though I didn't pay for mine, I would not have ordered the phone cables and the premium floor mats.
