I love the white Nissan Z color. Classic. I swapped a 370Z 6sp Manual for a Red Z 9sp AT. I haven’t really looked back. I’m 67 and although I love driving, I’m not into racing or tracking my cars. I was tired of rowing gears in traffic, and the rough(er) ride on the previous suspension. It feels like they Finnally fixed the things I didn’t like about my previous Nissan Z (2010 so it took them 15yrs to get it right). Yes, the Menus & Stereo/Nav and options on the display take a bit of getting used to, but once you do- you’re going to love it. Still a driver’s car, but super smooth and it always seems to know the right gear. Adaptive cruise control and parking assist are cool. Test drive one & Go for it, if you find the right deal. imho it’s a worthwhile upgrade.

Did you get a Sport model or the Performance model? Thank you for the response.

Twice I have noticed down in the 3-5 gear range, let’s say driving out of a city street turn, if you suddenly tell the car to change it’s mapping and hustle, it can hit the new preferred gear a bit hard because it has to stop all the damn shifting, think, and go. My opinion is that improving that will adversely affect other parameters and I’m fine with it. It is the only noticeable compromise I’ve noticed. Otherwise it’s an awesome transmission and the first time I’ve ever bought an auto with a manual sitting next to it. I drove them both and the AT felt noticeably quicker and snappier without throwing the passengers head around. It really loves to hustle.

I would advise you not to trade in your current Z, keep it. The 5k they will give you is insignificant and won't have that much effect on the taxes. I bought a 2024 Nissan performance for 14k off sticker, no games, and it was a clean transaction. Just keep your car and sell it if it's clean privately.

For sure AT shifts faster than I ever could in the 6sp MT. I haven’t noticed clunky gear changes, but my Z has 325mi on the clock from new… so obviously I haven’t got on it much during the engine brake in period. I forgot to mention how quiet it is (even the Performance/Nismo!) compared to the 350/370Zs. It has ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) - but that’s not the whole story… it just feels more like a GT now. Personally I’d pay the difference to get the Upgraded Brakes, bigger wheels & LSD which many have said. I think you can sell your previous car privately and make enuf extra so it cushions the extra cost. Trade-ins to the dealership are a ripoff, you let them win both ways when they sell your old car. Some kid will *want* your car in stock condition to modify heavily and hoon around the streets or even drift it, lol 😂

Haha -2025 Z Nismo tbh. I had a 2010 370Z Nismo & I just wanted it. Better seats (Recaro) etc… I almost bought the Orange Heritage Performance M/T for less, as it looks back to the 240Z which I love. But- I’m so glad I took the Nismo, with AT !
MA Performance AT will be even quieter & smoother than the Nismo. The Performance AT is the way to go, I would say.

I forgot to say I’m getting way better gas milage, but I’m driving more conservatively, currently.

Do any of you have feelings about purchasing a say 2024 Performance A/T with 1000-2500 miles on it?

If the discount was substantial, maybe. But it sounds like you like to hold on to your cars for a while, it would be good to know if it was broken in properly.

There's a few orange heritage editions around you too, 50k but it's nice to have a limited edition. According to cars.com, the lowest price one in the whole country is in Mesa, AZ.

I looked at the 2023 proto spec (yellow) AT in CA. Nice car, but 55K MSRP. Dealer wanted 82,900K out the door. Talk about a mark up. I walked as I didn’t want to drive a banana. Someone bought it eventually, DK what they paid… but it wasn’t an 83K car - ever. Unless you’re a Z collector & have to have THAT car.
🙀😹 Makes the Orange Heritage 2025 look cheap today.

I enjoy the sports car but I am not an enthusiast. I am recalibrating my expectations. The surcharges in 2023-2024 were short sighted. I am happier with the discounts. $89k is C8 level. I want a 400 hp car that is not as expensive as a Corvette. Onward

It sounds like the performance model is right up your alley. Whichever version you choose you will love it! I still think right now is the best time to buy a Z. Remember, you have the upper hand being the fact that these cars are going way under MSRP. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on whichever version you choose.

Thank you. It has been an educational and enjoyable journey mostly thanks to this group.

It’s funny how a car looks and feels visually. Even though I own an AT, I’d go MT in that car. Wouldn’t be a daily driver though. So I’d basically just get a Nismo and still have an AT. lol But that orange is a very old school sports car look.
