Awesome to see that you're enjoying your Z! You're definitely heading in the right direction starting with a set of lower downpipes, they're actually very easy to install with even simple hand tools. The full downpipes install is probably what you're hearing about, they can be a PITA and even sometimes require dropping the engine to do... The next thing we highly recommend is getting an upgraded heat exchanger if you haven't done that already! The stock HX is tiny and prone to heat soaking. You've probably noticed a drop in power during the summer after multiple back to back pulls. Upgrading this will give you way more consistent power, whether you're stock or tuned.Hey ya'll, back with an 18,000ish miles update.
I passed a year of ownership back in June. So...
1 set of rear tires, lowering springs, a JDM FairladyZ badge, and a second oil change later. Things have been good for the most part. I would HIGHLY recommend owners to get an alignment check when you get your cars or get one done in your spare time. My rear tires we're clapt on the inside at around 12000 miles. Was disappointing to find out the alignment was so bad from factory like that. My rear toe was way off. I started to feel the car become uneasy at higher speeds. I definitely wasn't enjoying the car while I was going through the tire issues.
Since getting new tires and an alignment, it's been great! The car feels so much better lower and aligned. Now on to the fun stuff!
I'm strongly considering @Racebox for my tune. The guy just seems awesome and I like that he's been around the VR30 community awhile. My lower downpipes from @boosted6autowerks should be here tomorrow. Hopefully I can install those and finally get tuned so I can really enjoy the car while it's still Summer. I'm not too amped on trying to install the LDP since i've heard doing them can be a pain but i've done much more complex mods so this shouldn't be too bad. Those who are racebox tuned, wanna chime in on your experience?
