Anybody with an auto trans running a muffler delete with the factory resonated mid pipe? I’m wanting about a bit more noise but I don’t want to introduce any annoying drone?

You already have a muffler delete setup. The a/t oem axle back is a “muffler delete” setup.

One option to increase the volume is to replace the your mid pipe with a m/t mid pipe or aftermarket. Another is to go for aftermarket full or lower down pipes.

I replaced my m/t axle back with an a/t axle back (aka muffler delete) and i‘m extremely happy with the results. You can achieve similar results with a m/t mid pipe.

here‘s a m/t mid pipe and muffler for $400 shipped. Offer $200 and tell him to keep the muffler - lol.

Why do you consider the a/t axle back a muffler delete? There is a muffler/resonator in place. It definitely does something to quiet things down a bit. I have watched some YouTube videos and there does seem to be a nice increase in volume going from the a/t axle back to a muffler delete. I’m just wondering how much more sound is added to the interior.

I have looked into purchasing the m/t mid pipe but I have been told that the configuration you have does drone.

That’s not a muffler you’re seeing. the cross pipe is for harmonic tuning to eliminate drone. maybe you get something out of it but replacing your axle back will not change as much as the mid pipe will. You could just drop the axle back to see what it sounds like without it. Should be close to an aftermarket muffler delete.

Check out Nissan‘s part description “without muffler”.

the drone is non-existent for me. i love the setup. There is a volume increase in the interior, but nothing crazy. For me it’s spot on.

If I had the auto axle back and wanted a bit more, I would get either the Z1 Y pipe paired with the Remark mid pipe, or just Remark Y and Mid. This would not only increase sound, but also flow and the Remark mid has resonators so it would keep drone at bay. I like the Z1 Y pipe because of the cast Y portion. Being cast, instead of cut and weld, the merge of the duel 2.5” into single 3” portion is perfection causing the least amount of unwanted turbulence.

Well, since switching out the mid pipe is such an easy and cheap option, I may just give it a try.

I have a Manual transmission Performance Z and want more sound...too quiet. Are you saying that for a M/T Z, you can just change out the back non-muffler from a A/T Z and it will sound louder?
Is that what you did and any chance for a sound clip?

Yes, the a/t axle back can be found on Facebook marketplace or eBay very often. The M/T Muffler is massive and really quiets things down a lot.

I did the same, the AT really is a full flow through pipe, and had a resonated mid pipe. I have a M/T and added the AT exhaust including the resonated midpipe and it sounds great. I’m not doing anything else with the exhaust for now, but when I do; I’m going to go full DP, and the remark Y-Pipe and resonated midpipe.

Yes, you can switch to an a/t axle back and she will come alive - here‘s the sound clip. Some are finding the entire a/t exhaust used for $200. I ended up buying new at local dealer.

Hey, thanks for the link. I read through the thread pretty good. I think going the m/t pipe route probably won’t work for me. Especially having the a/t. There were several mentions of some drone. I can’t find anybody there that has the resonated mid pipe with an actual muffler delete in the rear.
