Hey Guys!

Nick here from Mishimoto! We are absolutely STOKED to start diving into this platform once we can get our hands on one, but in the meantime, we want to hear from you on a few topics! In case you're unfamiliar with our company and what we do, make sure that you head over to our website, or check out the work we've already done on the VR30DDTT on our engineering blog:

Mishimoto Engineering Blog -Infiniti Q50/Q60 Intercooler

First, and the reason we're posting here, is that we wanted to know what type of intake you would prefer for your Z. Over the years we've developed and mastered a few different constructions/styles, but we want to ensure that we're delivering what YOU guys want. Right now we're bouncing around a few ideas but woult like your take on basically the sound/performance of these intakes. Please make sure that you drop your answer in our poll!

Other than that, we already have a big to-do list of products in store for the VR30DDTT once these become more available, but in case we missed anything, drop a comment on the sort of after-market products you'd like to see for the Z!

Thanks!
Nick

Hi Nick, have you test fit your Q50/Q60 performance intercoolers on the new Z yet?

Hi Nick, are you saying the sealed still gives better performance and volume than the metal box? Guess I'll wait and see flow comparisons, excited!

Really surprised the open filter solution is behind in the votes. The Z sounds like a vacuum cleaner. I'm all about hearing those turbos sing.
Right? It's a little disarming to have such a little noise come out of that car. We can't wait to rectify that predicament 😈

The sealed roto-molded box is going to offer better protection against residual engine bay heat, but it's going to lower the volume overall. The open filters with a heat shield is going to offer a better balance between volume and performance.

Another thing that we're pondering as well - how attached will you be to the OEM engine cover? Is that something that you'll immediately ditch once it gets in the way? Would you also be interested in an aftermarket cover at any point?

Nick, I don't care much for the OEM engine cover, just aesthetics I could do without. Aftermarket that can help extract heat better sounds good.
