Toyota Supra Gets a Six-Speed Manual, But Only With the Six-Cylinder Engine
The newly developed 6-speed manual gearbox also features an intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) programmed with new software that prioritizes sporty performance. When upshifting, the parameters are tuned to optimize engine torque at the moment of clutch engagement and release; on downshifts, the software has been fine-tuned for consistent performance. The iMT is set as the default but, if the driver prefers, it can be switched off in Sport mode.
So it's a "manual", but with computer interference (which can supposedly be turned off). Not sure that counts as an actual "manual" then.

Not sure how it wouldn't be a manual. It has three pedals, a clutch, and a shifter. It's definitely a manual. The car can't shift itself. It just sounds like it optimizes power when/where you shift.

when is delivery?? might wanna go this way with the endless Z uncertainty
At this point the deposit only guarantees me the ability to be the first one (at this dealer) to actually place a factory order. No details on timing yet, or price 🤣

Exactly.

To me this seems like a rev matching feature similar to the Z.

Oh, look, now the Supra will be offered in a lovely shade of deep blue. What ever could have inspired *that* decision??

Well understand that this is Year 3 for the Supra, and not even the first year for the Z. I do get your gripe though with the colors though, but we have to wait :/

On a separate point, the supra's engine has been around since 2015, and just tuned differently and upgraded for the car (Same as the Z, even if the power has been the same 400 since the RS400 Q50). Once Nissan see's how hot these cars are, we'll get better options down the road. Look at the 3 Generations of the Nismo 370z. They got better each revision with the final getting the better clutch, interior amenities from Touring and Recaro's.
