FWIW, I have experienced damage from bird droppings on a number of cars and motorcycles through the years. I think it is not a trivial task to design paint that meets all the modern requirements and is 100% resistant to chemical etching/staining. I think PPF is the only real safeguard.

Welcome to the new world of water based paints. Remember the early delays for paint issues…. It’s not nissan - its the tree huggers / EPA…

to fix the bird crap - use a fine cut polish like MEGUIAR'S 210 Mirror Glaze Ultra Pro polish by hand. Be careful - the paint is less durable on the painted plastic parts.

The same crap happens to my ‘23 rdx.

chevy had tons of issues when they switch over to water paint. Co-worker had issues with his honda crv…

less is more. The less paint correction / cleaner the better. find a paint protectant or good old pure non-cleaner car wax and re-apply after every wash. Reduce the frequency of washing it - that’s where the problem starts. The less you touch it the better.

i don’t know what toyota used on my black ‘14 taco, but the paint is like the day i bought her. it’s unbelievable- it laughs at bird sh!t. never hit her with anything other than wax / modern day protectants. Currently using cerakote that i found at walmart.
From what I understand only base is water. Clear should still be solvent. My friend owns a body shop. He said modern day paint now is garbage and super thin.

My Z has started to chip around the hood and bumper. they are so tiny I’m debating if I should file a claim or just wait, they are barely noticeable but you never know.

What are you going to claim? Paint chips happen on any car. No way to prevent it unless you put on PPF and even then it could happen if the impact is significant. Unlikely but could…

It has ceramic coating, which is why I’m filing for the claim, granted its dealer contractor installed but still, I’m not expecting the best thing but it’s free to file the claim and it’s warranty for “10” years, but I just finished a road trip not long ago and finally washed the car the day before yesterday which is when I noticed it 🤷

Ceramic coating is not chip protection. It’s basically a high end Paint protection from UV damage and makes the car easier to clean. It’s overpriced for what it is. Really no different that a quality wax albeit it will last much longer. Good luck. 🍀

ps. If chips bother you, get PPF but it isn’t cheap and make sure you go to a quality installer.

Touch it up and drive the car. I got a dent in mine from something. Went to painless dent removal. Dent removed. Sport touched up with paint. Re-ceramiced over it. Drive the tar out of the car.

My Auto was bumped into by a idiot hit and run delivery guy 2 months after i purchased it , took it to my auto body tech who repaired and the Z was back to form. Hey, guys. The the universe is full of collisions. Micro asteroids in space pose more of a risk to satellites and astronauts. Dust, rocks, bird shit, people scratching, door dinging, and keys will always find away unless you put ya car in a museum or keep her locked up in a garage. Eventually the paint will become blemished in some fashion. Drive the Auto and enjoy the wind blowing ya ears if your bald 😆

Do they sell ikazuchi touch up paint? 😬😬

I built the tamiya model kit and the mix for the model car is TS-18 canary yellow plus TS:45 pearl white at 2:1 ratio 😬😬😬 now I’m curious.

Use Dr. Colorchip to repair it. It works great for chips, and it's easy to use. I use that for all of my cars!
