Since the "400Z" thing started on the Internet, I'd like to propose a new fake name. One that makes more sense than "idk it's 400hp and it's a Z". Honestly I'm tired of confirming people's ignorance of the nomenclature. "Hey is that your 400Z?". Ugh yeah it is...

I present to you:
The Z35. Just start saying that and see if it sticks. If people say "That's not a Z35" you know how to respond.

First time I saw someone reference it as 400Z, I immediately searched it up thinking that I SOMEHOW missed a special edition or something! I was about to be mad at myself!

I personally don’t like it, I correct people every single time. “It’s just Z” Don’t be making up numbers! lol

Unfortunately the community I live in most people drive Tesla’s and SUV’s so if I said it’s a Z35, they would just believe it.

I'm confused because is not a Z35 as much as it isn't a 400z

The chassis wasn't different enough the R most likely stands for Revised in RZ34

If you tell someone its a 3BA-RZ34 or 5BA-RZ34 they will be just as confused while you are totally correct

I wouldn't refer to it as neither Z35 nor 400Z just poking fun at the incorrect naming I hear from people, mostly younger people. I did read Nissan refer to it as "Refined" Z34 though.

Yeah I agree it's either refined or revised down the R

This is probably meaningless in the real world, but in Gran Turismo 7, I did notice very different handling and characteristics between the 370Z and the Z.

"Hey nice Z!"

Me:
"Thanks, it's fun"

Them:
"I didn't know they made a new Z, is it still a 370?"

Me:
"No, they just call it the Z now"

*awkward silence*

I assume I’m the millionth person to say this, but it would have been nice to stay with the trend, drop the VR38DETT in it and call it the 380Z.

The 3.0L engine in there just fits, I can't imagine a 3.8L fitting in there.

LOL Yup.

For awhile there I would actually explain why it's just called the Z now, tell them about the change in displacement and addition of turbos, etc.. But every time the response was dead ass deer in headlights stare, so I just gave up and just started nodding my head and moving on
