K&N Filter Disaster...well almost

I wonder was there any trace of moisture on the boxes/packaging?

For those who purchase new filters, one of the most satisfying things in life is to clean a dirty air filter / cold air intake filter. I've invested in the K&N filter cleaner and oil spray and have cleaned and re-oiled filters a couple of times. Light application of oil and I've not run into any issues yet.

K&N had a long history of poor QC. Too much oil, or a fray in the filter is the common denominator

Crap I bought a pre oiled filter for my Murano. It wasn't k&n though it was STP (I think lol) Now I have to check it. Guess. The heat caused the oil to soften and drip?

It had some excess oil out of the plastic. I inspected them best i could, wiped down excess and they looked fine. Was fine for weeks until i got the CEL. CEL hasnt come back since removing them

Used for years never oil in that amount, though some applications may affect sensors.

that’s a lot oil in the picture. I was curious how these are made. Looks like factory K&N filers are sprayed after assembly and not even fully covered. looks like they skimp on oil - probably to save production cost. Would be cool to see a vid of the Z’s filter.

Checked today, Looks clean inside. Must be one off overly oiled by summer intern.
