Debating auto vs manual. Obviously the auto is faster around a track and 0-60, but is it fun in manual mode?

is the shifting fast? Is it a riot on on-ramps to click through the gears? I understand it’s even better for 2027, but those with insight let me know. Thanks!

Hey! I have had all my Z's in manual in the past, but this time I got my new 2024 Nismo in automatic! I don't regret it at all! I love It! Yes, it is fun using the shift paddles and it is very fast shifts! All I can say that it is a choice! The best thing would be to possibly find an automatic for you to test drive!

I do wish the manual was available when I got mine, but I'm not willing to pay a huge premium at this point to swap. Not a ton of experience with AT, as the only other AT I've driven was a 2005 350Z (from around 2016 to 2025). Manual mode on that was a joke. 1.5+ secs to shift, and that was when it was in a good mood. NISMO 9-speed shifts really quickly. Idk, like 0.5 sec...? Again, I have incredibly minimal experience with AT manual mode.

I miss the sync you get with a true manual, but I love the automatic...although the lazy has sunk in and most of the use I get from manual mode is downshifting when slowing down.

No judgement here, but my gut says if you're debating AT or MT that you should go AT.

Had the manual been available I never would have even considered the'24 Nismo I purchased. Before I sold mine last month I found myself driving my 370 Nismo MT more because I enjoyed it more.

I've had the manual on a '72 Datsun 240Z, and on a '15 370Z Nismo, and the Dual clutch on a '15 Nissan GTR, and now the auto on my '24 Z Nismo (with about 100+ HP & TQ added).

IMHO, If you like the fun of standard, go standard. If you like the convenience of auto go auto. If you could go either, go auto as it's quick and offers fun of paddle or ease of full auto.

The auto is a bit quirky in M mode, but once you learn its patterns, cold vs operating temps, particular behaviours in each gear and mild/moderate/hard throttle behaviours especially in gears 1-4 (rest are essentially overdrives since 3rd is 77mph, 4th is 105mph, and 5th is 142mph - though 1 is really short and limited, where 2 and 3 are key), it becomes predictable.

For me, my Z Nismo AT is not as good as the dual clutch GTR, better than the manual 370z Nismo, where none are as good as 4 spd manual '72 240z. 😁

I had a 2024 Nismo and just switched to the 2027 manual.
There is a delay when using the paddles. The Nismo has a regular AT. It is not a DCT. So the delay is what disappointed me to the point that I had to swap it for the manual.

How is the 27 manual? Is it as good as advertised?

And all of the above is what made me switch to the MT. I just want to start driving without having to consider all of that...
Just arrived this morning from AZ with the new Z. I like it.

It feels like the V8s from the 80's & 90's.
Drove mine from AZ to Fl.

Absolutely amazing ride. Did you pay MSRP?

Yeah, I have to get my order in...
