In real life?
I have never bought a red car before but I am really liking red on the z.


There is no reason why red should fade more than other colours is there?

No not in real life, in another post.
Red does fade especially in the Australian sun, i feel the darker colours suffer this fate worse than the lighter ones.
If it’s garaged, paint protected, and driven on the weekends then it won’t be an issue, but as a daily drive ( as mine will be) I wouldn’t go red.
My son has my dads car now that he bought when he got his license.
It is red and was in good condition, well looked after, but still needed a refresh of paint.

Look it could just all be in my head, I’m no paint specialist…but I do feel red fades quicker than other colours

Unlike other color pigments, red paint reflects red light. For this to happen it must absorb green, blue, and UV light. These shorter wavelengths of light often have a greater energy and bleach paint pigments more than other colors. This is the reason why cars with red paint fade faster.
Found the above comment on the web, but I have similar colors to the Nissan red and by regular washing and polishing they have always looked great, the color may change from the original after a few years but if its uniform all over you wont notice it from the original. As long as the clear coat doesnt break down you can always use a product to give it the wet polished look.
I want the Blue but if I'm offered the red as alternative to whats available I think I may take it.

Yep I work in a car paint shop. The amount of people who come in with red cars asking for touch up paint and then coming back and complaining it’s not the right colour, it’s because their original colour is so faded it doesn’t look like the original colour

For me personally, fading is not going to be an issue. I don't think I will keep the car for more than a few years.
If Nissan's Passion Red is nearly as good as Mazda's Soul Red then it's probably going to be my number one choice of colour. The red and black combo just looks so good. IMO, the big rectangular front grill looks much better on cars in red, blue, grey and black colour.

No one’s red is as good as Mazdas ….that was one of the reasons I was seriously considering getting an MX5 instead ?

From your work in a paint shop, what's your thoughts on ceramic coatings & wraps for a car that won't be daily driven--is there any point getting it done, or is a regular wash & polish enough?

White is painful to keep clean, but it looks great, and given hardly anyone has ordered it, you may get ahead of the pack?‍

I actually think white is not too bad to keep clean, not as easy as grey or silver, but much better than black. I have had a few white and black cars before.

From your work in a paint shop, what's your thoughts on ceramic coatings & wraps for a car that won't be daily driven--is there any point getting it done, or is a regular wash & polish enough?

Ceramic coatings do a great job of protecting your paint and making it easier to clean. It is probably overkill for a non daily thats garaged, a good old fashioned 2 bucket wash and polish would do the job, but the coatings aren't just snake oil, they do a good job of retaining gloss and protecting your paint. My car isnt a daily, i don't use the ceramic coat, i enjoy washing and maintaining the car with a good polish myself
