Trying to figure out what the best exhaust setup would be in terms of getting it as loud as possible without drone. Planning on keeping upper downpipes but maybe resonated lowers, possibly resonated cat back. With a valved muffler.

Anyone have a similar setup? How's the drone?

I have a friend that's got an exhaust company so he'll be making something custom. Potentially with a Z pipe. Always hard to tell volume levels on video and no one ever like to say if their exhaust has drone

I'd design something similar to AWE's then, or Fast Intentions, but using either 2.5" or 2.75" piping. 3.0" is absolutely overkill on the VR30 unless you're shooting for massive numbers on big turbos. Retaining the stock upper downpipes, I'd have your buddy extend the catback to also replace the lower downpipes while you're at it.

That's the plan! Might not put that section on yet depending on the timing with when I'm ready to shell out for a tune, but will definitely plan for it

No tune is needed for LDPs since the secondary cats are not monitored (only the primary cats in the UDPs are).

Not too worried about the monitoring side. Just have been told by a tuner that the ldp can cause overboost since there's a large change on restriction with that

This is not the case; the primary cats provide adequate back pressure.

I have the AWE Touring + B6A Resonated Lower Downpipes, and it sounds amazing with no drone! I recommend this setup as it adds volume and tone without being harsh or overbearing.

The Nismo Track is made by Borla, who markets it in house as the Borla ATK. No drone and it’s designed for the car, can’t go wrong there.
Main thing is that I do want valves since I like my neighbors. I leave early sometimes but that does seem like a good starting point

The Nismo exhausts are 2.25" while the Borla-branded systems are 2.5" piping.

Newly installed Invidia exhaust does have a noticeable drone, not unbearable. Weird thing is that I got less drone with the Spooled resonated LDPs, stock manual mid pipes, and EOS muffler deletes. THough that setup got real loud at full boil high RPM pulls.

HKS Super Turbo hands down imo, no drone at all and what a nice sound it makes, yeah its not loud, it's exactly what you hear on the video. Inside the cabin you hear a nice note from the exhaust, it's such an elegant sound, and you can't beat Japanese quality!
