You guys should watch this video:

Air-to-Air is not the ultimate panacea some in this thread seem to think it is. I also wouldn't fully trust Z1's testing based on some of their product engineering decisions...

I agree. After reading more into it, air2air makes sense for a car that is always in motion. Z1 makes a lot of assumptions on who their customers are and what they do (they're all race car drivers and mechanics). At idle in warm weather, air 2 air system will heat soak the aluminum radiators until you start moving whereas a water2air system is dissipating heat with water flow even when station.

I have seen VR30 on the dyno where after a couple of runs the intercoolers were so hot you can barely touch them.

For me, A2A is way cheaper and easier to maintain (zero maintenance) and less lines and hoses in the engine bay.

AMS intercoolers alone is more expansive than Z1 A2A kit. And you would also need a better pump, bigger heat exchanger and intake. A2A and Meth injection (or even pure water) is the perfect combination IMO.

Oh for sure a2a is way more efficient than w2a but it is one of those "is the juice worth the squeeze?" scenarios. My Z is new-ish, had it for a couple of years now and I don't want to start making hard modifications to install the a2a system since it isn't quite necessary for me (yet ).

You don't have to cut the support. Look up the Q50/Q60 or the Greddy version where the inntakes are inside the engine bay.

The greedy kit looks so nice but so pricey. The description does say cutting of parts is necessary

That's what I read too. Plus it doesn't make sense to use a2a with the stock turbos. For the next few years I'm rocking OEM+. Maybe much later on I'll go a2a bigger turbos, etc. Btw a proper and complete a2a system with all the complimentary upgrades far exceeds $5k just for parts alone, labor is another story.
