I got 89km on the odo and it's sitting in the garage for the winter. i have plans for the car and one of them is to install full catless dp.

I know i should tune the car ASAP if i'm driving catless...My question is, should i wait until the break-in is done to be tuned or it doesn't matter and go all out right away?

Well, Im sure many will share their experiences. Mine has always been not to modify too deep until both break in and warranty is over. Auto manufacturers love to deny warranty claims over any modifications.

If you follow the break-in recommendations, then you will not be able to street or dyno tune for any mods. I would not want to drive it with full dps without at lease doing a remote street tune to clean up the a/f. If you are doing dps (full or lowers), then you need a catback and intake as a minimum.

But i agree the winter would be good time to install the mods while you are not driving it. also, you can take advantage of the down time and have the dps coated and wrapped.

wait til 5000km and your next service with the dealership. That way if any lemons pop up, they can deal with it right away. after that, bobs your uncle

I had my mods before I took delivery and put them on immediately, but Hernandooo has the best advice just incase.

I can’t see how you put it on a Dyno and tune it- without going into a rev range that is incompatible with an engine ā€˜break-in’. If the tuner is willing to flash a ā€˜safe tune’ for your setup, then I would do that. Then later he can tune it properly.

Here’s what I did during break-in:
I kept mine below 4,000 rpm for 5K km. Well, at least tried to be easy on the engine at first. I accelerated on to a motorway (freeway) faster on occasion. Varying speed & rpm is good for break in. But Redlining is not imho. It’s your car, so do what you want. Some say just ā€œsend itā€ - that’s what the Nissan Service Department said to do. Well they would, right?

I changed the ā€œbreak-inā€ oil at exactly 2K miles (around 3.5K km). Sent an oil sample off for analysis. I’m nearly at my next oil change & I will do another analysis around 6-7K miles (so ~ 10K km). I do all my oil changes at the dealership during the warranty period. Your milage may vary. šŸ˜†
