Anyone seen these hood risers & know how to get them down. Spun the Z on wet roads and caught back wheel on curb. These popped the hood open - can’t open or close hood

Just ordered the Top Secret one from Japan. $160 with free shipping from eBay.

We have so many potholes its risky not to have this. I once cracked both GTM turbo manifolds on my 350z from a pothole.

I was able to get them plugged in and swapped but for some reason my hood light stayed on as if it’s open but it’s closed. If anyone knows how to get rid of the hood open light, let me know.

Is there any way to just remove these completely? Seems ridiculous to even have ... especially in the US ... someone will sue us no matter the situation.

No you can’t just remove them. Your car computer will detect that they are missing or unplugged and you’ll have an error code.
If you remove them you need to plug in something that fools your computer into thinking they are still there.

If I had to guess, I'd say the delete/bypass harness that makes up that kit is nothing more than a resistor in a case attached to a male version of the plug that goes into the cars wiring harness. If someone was willing to open the case and look that might make things a lot easier.

Resistors come in all shapes, sizes, ohms, and watts.
Yeah I know. I wasn't asking a general question about resistors, I was asking specifically for what this topic is about.

sometimes for security car manufactures will
Make resistors with different frequencies (Ohms) even within the same model and if it doesn't match what the car expects it will throw codes or even disable the vehicle.

Google GM VATS resistor key. Late 1980's tech.

I have some experience with those keys. Just sucked when it failed and to bypass you needed a resistor with a specific ohms. Just wasn't sure if for THIS topic, the hood popper bypass, that you needed a specific frequency or if they are the same on every Z.

For something as important as the SRS system (which I believe this is tied to given that its yellow), I'm pretty sure its all the same. Otherwise the company selling that kit would have no idea how to make them fit for each individual car.

Question is what resistor would be needed.

Yeah, I've seen that kit a few times. What I'm getting at is its likely a ten cent resistor inside a fancy case that is connected to the male end of the plug to fit into the cars harness. If someone would be willing to take the case off it may likely make it easier and far cheaper for people looking to delete the hood pop system by just purchasing a few resistors from digikey, etc rather than paying $150~ usd for two ten cent resistors.
