I'm starting to regret modding the car. Starting to think I should deregister the car and just make it a dedicated track car and tow it to the track. I made it stiff for the track and driving it locally just doesn't make sense anymore especially with all the "safe streets" initiatives happening (thanks to the takeover and street race culture). Pretty soon my county will get speed cameras everywhere no doubt.

This is was one of the reasons I got the Z over the Supra. People complain about the soft suspension, but it's deeply preferred if you are daily driving, and the Supra felt like it was too track focused to be a good daily driver. That, and I still can't believe how bad the cabin visibility is in that car.. Most reviewers just glossed over it, but holy shit when I test drove did I get anxiety.

Just reversing out of a parking lot of mall is an blind man's nightmare in that supra.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires and 94 octane and a catback straight pipe exhaust is all I need to feel good stock.

I learned to drive the Z hard quick and thus had to stiffen it, plus I already wanted to track it so it made sense. The regret subsided, it was a momentary thing...😅

Am I the only one that has fun with these tires?
You mean the S007s?

I guess you could say they were fun in a slip-and-slide sort of way. You have to hold back, actually, from what the Z is really capable of, lest the S007s break loose.

The car is more fun, IMO, when it doesn't break loose. All that power and torque is delivered to the pavement.

Yeah that's what I mean, a little slip then feeling the car grab is fun for me. I'm weird. I like feeling it spin a little in each gear during launch control. Admittedly I wlll be switching to Continentals once the S007's wear out.

Yeah, I let me S007s wear out, roo (well, just the rears actually). Share your experience with the Continentals when you get them. Maybe I'll try those next set.

Sometimes I regret not waiting a bit longer and getting one brand new instead of slightly used, but at the time it was the cheapest used Nismo listed that I could find, and just happened to be 100 miles away in the only color I wanted. Haven't had any problems but I'll always wonder how that original owner treated the car for that first ~500 miles before they decided to trade it in for a C8

I regret putting in that harness bar and wasting stupid amounts of time and a bit of money trying to get it installed, then taking it out and dealing with some stripped threads on the bolt that holds the seatbelt down but you live and you learn

Last regret is not bringing some spare brake pads to my first track days, even knowing it was on the recommended packing list from the organization I drive with. In my head I was telling myself "nah, it's your first time on track! There's no way you're gonna be driving hard enough to need extra brake pads right?!" Woops

Picked up a Nismo Z for $78k AUD a couple of weeks ago with 1,000km on the clock. Have been out on a few drives, and I think I'm glad I went with the Nismo, as from all the reviews I've seen, the performance of the Nismo is what people expect the regular Z to be.

I think so far, the ONLY downside I can think of is, because this is pretty much like a new car, I'm less inclined to modify it, or pull anything apart. Which I was so used to with my R34. But I think I'll just enjoy it for what it is stock for the time being, then slowly mod it with time.

So far my only regret is just not reading up more on the platform before I pulled the trigger...I tend to be more analytical / less spontaneous when making big purchases like this, but the deal was attractive, the timing was right, the car was the spec I was looking for, and most importantly I was able to take advantage of over $10k off, making my performance $46k. I am a little worried how the VR30 will respond to shitty ACN 91 gas and the manufacturer recommending 0w-20 even though I'll spend several months well into the 110's daily-ing the car in Phoenix...

I'm not convinced I would have 100% chosen the Z if my budget had been MSRP ($56,615) as that might have opened up some interesting competition, but by the time I stop spending $$$ on upgrades who knows how deep in this I'll be?

Overall, I'm really happy with the car itself though, so far I have zero issues to speak of and my complaints are mostly limited to the audio quality of the Bose system, the quality of the backup camera, and the weak stock exhaust on the 6MT...most of which can be remedied.
