I hope it isn't that extreme. I can somewhat understand the wait time for the new C8 because of what it is - a completely brand new mid-engine sports car with near super car performance , with exotic looks.... etc. And not to mention , every boomers favorite mid-life crisis mobile has always been a Corvette .

But let's be real - The Z is just the new and improved 370Z. Although everyone loves Z cars throughout the years , the market and demand isn't nearly as big as the Vette community

For the first couple years it most likely will be. I understand the Z isn't near the boomer car the Corvette is but the new Z has generated a TON of attention from new buyers. Plus I mean there are wait lists for cars like Sentras. They aren't 6-18 months long but if you have to wait 2-4 weeks for a car Nissan pumps 100k+ out every year imagine a car there will only be thousands of.

And I don't think a 2 to 4 month wait time is that big of a deal . But anything beyond that is going to discourage a lot of buyers

So the "subject to final pricing" would also remain on any US contract. So legally in the US you don't buy a car till the bank finalizes the loan. There are some states that have more strict or lax laws (Oklahoma has law of ownership. once you leave the lot it's yours). So even though it's not as polished as Aus the ordering system work effectively the same.

If someone wanted to place an order through me and I am to submit an order to Nissan this is how it works. 1 we order the car the way you want and you sign a form to purchase the car with a deposit. 2 When the car arrives you then sign the purchase agreement or when we receive the VIN. 3 The owner takes delivery of the car and the deal is funded, they are now the owner.

At any point between point 1 and 2 you are allowed to drop out and just like your order would be moved to the bottom of insert list.

Where things are a bit messy here in the US is your experience is 100% dependent on the salesman/dealer you work with. It's slimy as hell but if the salesman/dealer says congrats your car is in its 30k over MSRP now that it's here they can because there was no binding contract at step 2. That's why I am SUPER transparent with everyone I work with. If the car is 44,762 the max mark up is 5k so the cost would be 49,762. Now I could say that then double back on it and say sorry its now 15k over and will run you 59,762 but that would make me a POS and I'm not about that.

The car was NEVER priced at 30k. It was conformed the day the Z launched back in August that it would START around 40k.
Nissan Rogues and Pathfinders currently have a 2-4 month wait time so why would the Z wait time be shorter?

Well I guess when that female Nissan spokesperson said it was going to start near $30k that was a pretty big mistake. No one believed it , including myself . And of course they shortly came out with a correction that $30k was not correct .

And I'm not really sure why you're arguing with me about pricing and time frames . I'm merely stating my opinions about what I personally feel is an acceptable wait time and price.

Don't worry, you will make plenty of money selling Zs regardless of price, when they finally arrive

As for me it’s not about making money it’s about getting these cars out without people getting ripped off. Dealers killed the Focus ST with mark ups and Supra sales are in the dirt with dealers marking them up 15-20k. I don’t want to see that happen to this car. I want to see thousands of Z cars on the roads and not just to people who will pay 60k for a 40k car.

Fair enough. We're on the same page. I think many of us are just getting impatient now that we see that we might only be a couple months away from the car hitting the dealerships

u know i just got offered a red 3.0 prem today at 57k but i dont like red plus i think im going to wait it out a bit.. plus that whole untunable unless u send it out to russia dont sit well with me paying 2k plus for a tune

I don’t think there is anything INHERENTLY wrong with the Supra but it just felt like a cheap cash grab to please the Supra bros. Toyota is one of the largest manufacturers in the world. You can’t tell me they don’t have the resources to build a sports car in house. People rip on Nissan for reusing the Z34 platform but Nissan is not a global giant. I won’t excuse laziness but I do believe they are doing everything they can with the nightmare all manufacturers are in. I wish the Z nothing but the best

I don’t think there is anything INHERENTLY wrong with the Supra but it just felt like a cheap cash grab to please the Supra bros. Toyota is one of the largest manufacturers in the world. You can’t tell me they don’t have the resources to build a sports car in house. People rip on Nissan for reusing the Z34 platform but Nissan is not a global giant. I won’t excuse laziness but I do believe they are doing everything they can with the nightmare all manufacturers are in. I wish the Z nothing but the best

i mean thats one of the biggest rippings the mk5 get thats its a bmw with toyota badges, maybe working on those new gr yaris and corolla had them to busy who the f knows lol

Oh well , I'll just keep saving money . Maybe have the entire cash amount saved up by the time i can actually purchase one . I'm definitely not gonna be one of these desperate chasers who ends up paying a huge mark up. It's only a car. Hell, maybe even other Z alternative will be announced in the meantime

I agree about not paying markups. Now that I know the situation isn't looking good for available inventory, I'm going to put the Z out of my mind for a while. I'll let other people chase and stress over it. We need to remember that this is probably the worst time in car history to buy a new or used vehicle. The sad thing is, I don't NEED a car. It's just a desire for something new and shiny. I may jump on this site now and then, but for now, I'm going to stop coming here because I find it counterproductive.

I'm a little confused as well why we are only missing a few key points of info. All I know is there are panels of people paid way more than me who make those decisions. I estimate pricing to sit between 45-47k for the performance manual. It's really a great price point for all the extras you get over the sport.

I don't like toyota so with the MK5 and 86 I just assume they don't want to waste their resources on a car that doesn't make them money. At least here in the states that's not Toyotas name sake. But your right we really don't know the reasoning.

In Aus we only get the proto and one other version that appears to be somewhere in between a sports and performance model with it leaning more heavily towards the latter.
Even if we get our pricing it would be hard to judge what it would be in the US because it’s not the same car…and I presume the same could be said for the Japanese market.
Whatever the price, I wish they would hurry up and announce it.
If it’s too expensive, I’ve then got a four month wait to get a MX5 ( Miata) so I would like to know either way
